HAHAH!!!

You guys replied before I posted the details.....I upload with my phone then write on the computer.

It's a Colt Gold Cup National Match MK4 series 80
I am the second owner I know of, could be more but I didn't ask when I bought it.
Yes it's ceracoted and it's scuffed up.
All internals are STI and I have a box with all the original parts and grips.
NO idea on the round count. I have put a couple of thousand through her and who know before me.
Works great and shoots even better.
Just need some input so I can put it on the EE and watch it sit there forever and field all the lowballs.....lol
Thanks for any input and PM if you would like to.

P

What the hell happened to that poor girl? looks like some one beat the hell out of the slide and then painted it? a picture of the other side would have been better than 2 of the one side.
This was a expensive gun, but unless the picture is screwed up I would have to have more info - what series?

A real nice 70 series N.M. I had sold for 1800.oo not long ago., So as Ironheart posted minus $$$$ from where it should be
Plus you covered the serial # so could be a missas.

Were the sti internals fitted by a Smith or by you? Why were they changed? Do they match the hack job on the finish? Used guns arnt a problem but used guns that look like they've been beat on by a kitchen gunsmith do.
I'd say around $800-900 Mark if the the barrel is still the national match barrel

Gunsmith did the work.....

This gun has been used for 3 gun, hence appearance. Not all my guns just hang on the wall. lol

I thought I had a valuable colt series 70 9mm.....until I stared asking around for info on it.....the finish was destroyed on mine and someone did a nasty instalation of aftermarket adjustable sights......it takes a beating in price when weird $hit is done, and especially by someone who is not qualified; to an otherwise valuable pistol

I know it once was a high end piece. I bought it cause I got a good deal on it. Not because I was looking for a high resale price. I am looking at letting it go as my eyes are sh!tting the bed and I am leaning to but something with a reflex sight. Was not me that did the refinishing. I just shot a lot of ammo though it!!! :)

Yeah the gold cups are fantastic however there have been alot of ####ing around with this pistol. People are different when it comes to 1911's you would have probably gotten more with the beat up original finish (I know you didn't refinish it) and most of the factory internals.

I hear ya on that.....I bought my series 70 9mm knowing of the condition and issues......and got it for a sweet deal

Sorry your eyes aren't doing that good these days.....but if you can still get out to the range, shoot it and enjoy it for what it is!!!! Still a fantastic 1911 nonetheless

If you really like it, you could do what I did with one of mine, not a colt, but a super good custom built Norc, it will shoot way better than I do, but with the colt sight, not sure about a base, this is a Novak base, If I can just find the picture View attachment 196441

Going to follow some advice and give this old girl a refit.

As I said it shoots great, just looks rough.....sure we all can relate our pasts w stories similar to this ;-)

Have talked to a gunsmith about setting it up for a reflex sight and some higher sights. Will shoot it till she packs it in or I do!!!!!

Never judge a book by its cover!!!

Thanks for (almost) all the help!!!

Really wish I could have gotten my hands on her back in her prime....

Probably your best bet since you'll never likely see the kinda of money you were hoping for out of it. I know black box did another members 1911 with a red dot they milled the slide it was really expensive but looked great. The other option is the dovetail mount, which way are you going with it?

The frame looks quite nice, it is just that slide that looks like crap, or is it just the way the picture turned out.
I know nothing about the finish, can it be stripped like paint?
A good reblue, or even in the white if it is not all banged up, would look good.
As a Colt collector, looks bad, as a colt shooters looks good, I would not kick it out of bed.
For years I shot a old 1911 Remington / colt gun that today would be a parts gun, if even that, but on my own range it worked great for 25 yrs for bull eye.

Years ago I had a fellow brought in a colt 1911C, made 1912, 80% or so and he had "customized it" , Good thing you can't shoot fools in this country
