Does anyone know of a 223 or 22-250 to vaporize varmits? What is the best out there without paying thousands...no semis...no fulls (had my fill of these and they just are money wasters) just a simple action (short) push feed as opposed to control feed with or without optics. Open sight is ok as my vision is still ok.

any opnions????

Might want to move this to the 'hunting sporting arms' forum.

Savage 10, Rem 700, CZ 527, Tika T3 should all be close to MOA or better... For varmints I would also personally stick with .223 as its cheaper to buy and reload for.

wait, what? what is a short push feed? or a control feed? and don't worry, we don't have any 'fulls' in Canada, although it would be fun...

push feed is a bolt that does not require a round to be put in a magazine first....just drop one in close the bolt and torpedo away.
Control Feed required a round to be magazined first...if this is not done the clip at the end of the bolt tends to break by forcing the round at the end of the bolt instead of picking out of the magazine...result in a damaged firearm and tears for the repair....caution as well
short push feed is basically .
long action is 30-06 and up....short is 223 to 308

Depends on what you want to do. 223 Remington is cheaper to shoot, but the 22-250 hits harder when it hits. Not as cheap to shoot but still pretty decent. 223 is easier to find rifles with faster twists for the heavier bullets. Where 22-250 is usually intended with the lighter weight projectiles in mind. The Ruger American Predator in 22-250 comes in 1:10 twist wich should be good up to 70 gr bullets.

If you are buying new, there is little choice when it comes to iron sights. I think Zastava, and Sabbiatti (spelling?) have nice looking sporters in .223. Ruger and someone else have short barreled tactical "Scout" rifles that have really coarse iron sights. .22-250; none have iron sights that I know of. Ammo (buying and reloading) is much less expensive for the .223.

i had a 22-250 super light barrel but after a few rounds it would put rounds where it felt....out the gate doing 98....yes i am beginning to see a lot of 223 around....and on load charts with the twist and grains...very comparible to 22-250
so far i had tried a tika...pass on this one

The bullet does the vaporizing, not the rifle... pick any bolt action that feels good and suits your fancy.

a bit more precision would be great since bolts come in 17 hmr all the way to 600 nitro... and feel comfortable in most but not will to Tank blast a gopher with 50 cal and would not mind a bit of ranger that the 222/223/224/22-250 all have.
That being said the 223 and 22-250 are the most popular and was just wondering which was the best and who makes the best rifle for a great price....and You are correct...the round does the vaporizing

yesterday at the range there was a guy with a lever action 22-250
he was shooting leftover pieces of broken clays at 200m with ease.
told me the muzzle velocity went about 4000fps
