ATRS Modern Sporter - Nov 30th : New video, Post 482

Quite few #1s. Between every generation of AT15 over the years, the MH generations, the MV, MS and our bolt action rifles in 2 generations along with the assorted prototypes, it adds up.

No plans to do a large frame given what Stag has done.
Understandable, I have a Stag, but would also be in for LF, if you ever change your mind :)

No updates from the lab yet?
I really want one but just can't bring myself to put the money down till it's officially non restricted.
I know there really is no reason they should go the other way, I just don't trust the firearms lab with making any rational decisions after some of the crap they've done in the past.

No, I can understand your trepidation.

The Modern Hunter FRT (available on our website) states and I quote "Further, this firearm design is derived from an amalgamation of several different firearm designs and does not trace its design lineage directly or uniquely to a "prohibited" or a "restricted" firearm found in the Regulations appended to the Criminal Code."

Now the Modern Varmint says "Further, this firearm design is derived from an amalgamation of several different firearm designs and does not trace its design lineage directly or uniquely to a "prohibited" or a "restricted" firearm found in the Regulations appended to the Criminal Code."

If you put a Hunter and Varmint next to the Sporter, there can be no argument that the sporter is not directly descended from a Modern Hunter or Varmint, and we can demonstrate how the changes made were simply to reduce costs and proprietary parts. We can also point out commonality with many different non restricted platforms if some features are questioned. It would seem the only option left on the table is to delay.

Me neither! They strung us along for nearly 4 years on the MH and I believe if it was not for Stephen Blaney going to bat for us we would still be waiting for a decision.
Given the the FRT is NOT law and these are produced domestically and are based on an existing NR design there should not be any argument, but we are dealing with the feds, so anything is a possibility.

It is my belief they are stalling until C71 gets rammed through and I believe we are all in for some B.S. to further disarm us as we all know the law abiding are the problem, not the criminal scum. Low hanging fruit is always the easiest to target in order to give the false appearance that the government is doing something.

I just read it , in its entirety.

I thought it was a poll to see which was gonna be first.
But see it’s just to see how many of each they need to make.

My mistake,

I believe the poll was just to judge interest. They have been pretty transparent that slick side would be first simply as they already have the material and programs proven.

So , on my invoice, it has my name, Rpal # and serial #.

How would this be any different than a back door regestry?
All my info is already being collected by ATRS, and for accounting purposes, don’t they need to keep this info on file for 7 years?

I’m not insinuating that ATRS is keeping records for anything, other than accounting purposes.
But in all reality, it’s not difficult for the government to find out where these sets went.

Now ,what you do with them once you get them, that’s another story.

The registry would require them to keep that information together and make it available to the RCMP. Right now once you’ve paid your invoice and the receiver is shipped to you they can throw out the hand written one and log just your payment info into their accounting software. Also I’m not sure if they record the serial numbers on firearms that aren’t on a pre sale status. My understanding was the serial number was recorded simply to tell us we had secured one.

Last I heard was, they were gonna ask the guys who put money up.

Let them decide.

But hey, maybe they can sell more SS, so that trumps.

I’ll wait for the FA, even though it’s only cosmetic for me.

And as they’re not started the uppers yet, how long do it take for blocks of aluminum to show up?

The slick side uppers will be done first as we already have the material for them. It takes about 3 weeks to get material but to have yet another 20G worth of aluminum sitting in the rack for the next few months makes no business sense, at least to me it doesn't.
