The fight is about to start everywhere in Canada , hunters need to get prepared ... Look what happened in the Yukon this fall on caribou hunts .. Under hunting section ... The government of Yukon cancelled caribou permits in a large area with no study just at the demand of the First Nation .... It's coming to all provinces..dark days are ahead
in the meantime our liberal government has already stated they need to find ways to reduce canadian's desires to own and use firearms. They are not talking about crimminals here , they are talking about US. So it is no surprise to me that across the board, we are seeing reductions and restrictions on hunting in nearly every province.
I know folks are frustrated with the first nations issues but this really all falls on government.
I am metis and have a constitutionally protected right to hunt fish and harvest BUT the province i live in refuses to recognize those rights. I am from a family that descends from Chief Little Hunter, signor of treaty 6 ..... yet "my" rights mean nothing.
so if my rights mean nothing I think maybe it's time we level the playing field between residents and aboriginal hunters and the guide outfitters can fold up shop and piss off.
The Powley decision in Ontario was a start and licences are now issued to Metis hunter. I agree with you - it’s very uneven across the country and needs to be addressed. Métis rights are constitutionally recognized just as First nation and Inuit rights are recognized

People making money exploiting natural resources that belong to first nations. I guess the forestry industry can fold up shop and piss off too? Or maybe it has more to do with getting a cut of the profits, as usual.
+1 Well said..I would not suggest the first nation-or metis do mot have treaty rights, I'm just suggesting common sense prevail on some issues. First nation continually trying to stop legal hunting and fishing by non first nation tax paying Canadians.... will not bring harmony.. it will just drive a bigger wedge between all parties. And just because you have a legal right to do something doesn't always mean you need to do it. We all need to get over the blame game, no one should say get over the past but at some point we need to move past it and strive for something better than its someones fault. Would it be so bad to have ALL hunters have to report kills for conservation?? or have seasonal closures for ALL hunters to conserve??
Didn't that same guy call for a close to last year's moose hunt too?
Can we not just lock this bull#### thread already? More ammunition to make us look like bigoted, knuckle dragging idiots when some CBC reporter joins the forum and starts taking screenshots?

the Indians do overfish the salmon and sell them by the side of the road as well
They are no doubt selling moose meat
