They did not intend that people would be going armed with holstered loaded revolvers, and this is what is happening. Look at the number of threads that have been posted here about antique revolvers being carried for defence in the bush.

Anyway, back to your original post abut the appeal of antiques...
I very much enjoy them. Started a thread about the English shotgun which I acquired last Friday. I am hopeful that I will be able to identify the crest on the silver thumb plate, because that could identify who owned it, or had it made, a couple of hundred years ago.
Another of my favorites is a 16 gauge Wilkinson flintlock shogun. Obtained a copy of the page from the Wilkinson record book for September 1822, when the gun was finished. Unfortunately the original purchaser was not recorded.

Not at all. It could happen. How far do you trust the current government with anything to do with firearms?
But if it were to happen, the value of some pistols would plummet. In my last photo, there is a Webley RIC in .450. Excellent shooter, preparing ammunition isn't particularly difficult. At the present time one like this could sell for perhaps $1200, maybe more. If it could only be used at an approved range, I believe the value would drop significantly.
 
I was in the antique game for a few years but my interests changed and I didn't want so much $$ tied up in guns so I sold mine to finance my new interest.

But I was thinking the other day, if they banned all handguns I wonder if they'd include antique revolvers in that law? People would lose a lot of money if they were a turn in scenario with no compensation. But luckily they aren't registered so I doubt few would follow that law willingly.

Although I wouldn't rule out the possibility, I highly doubt antiques will be touched. Unless some scumbag decides to get an antique webley and shoot up innocent people, things should remain status quo.
 
Let's hope I'm wrong. I remember that I was wrong once before. But then it turned out that I was mistaken.

That's like hoping to be the last one the crocodile eats. 12(6) owners are there now.

EVERY incremental ban, restriction, and classification has been a nail in the coffin of private firearms ownership in Canada. It just took a couple of generations for most to wake up and realize that. Some still don't get it.

I can't believe that the current "antique" status has lasted as long as it has. Once a Toronto gang banger uses an "antique" in a shooting incident, that will change in a flash.
 
I'm going to sell off a couple of my antiques. Would it be advisable to sell them on here or where do you suggest?
