i have just stumbled across one in very good condition
and the serial number ends M70,would this dictate it was made in 1970?

whats the going purchase price for one of these

Browning date of manufacture....input serial number.

Lots of people put them in the EE for $1000+. Mostly sell for $600....perhaps $700 if a magnum.

the rifle SN is ###40M70

M=BAR High Power Rifle

Before 1969 the number after the M was the year.

1969-75 the number before the M was year

so that makes it a 1940 year ???

1970....that makes it a very early made and manufactured in belgium. They have a certain collectable appeal although its hard to find a poorly manufactured Bar. Not sure it would really change the value, perhaps make it sell faster.

Year was what i thought

Its in really good condition so i might make an offer on it
Nice dark wood and the blueing is almost perfect

The Belgian BAR is a reputable rifle and works well when in good shape. Keep in mind that parts are getting more difficult to source.
