I named her HEAVY PENETRATOR

That is a crazy collection Epoxy!!! I am also interested in KAC. I could never afford it but the SR25 is incredible from what I have heard and read. I agree with you about LMT, Another nice thing is an LMT not using proprietary HK parts that are harder to source. I am a die hard HK guy though, If I could I would own the mr223 and mr308. Those would be my priority before a KAC or LMT (unless some crazy deal came up).
I wish the HK91 was available to us up here. That would be an instant want for me. The closest thing we can get as far as I know is the HK770 which has the same action as the hk91 but is in a traditional hunting rifle style. I would even consider one of those as well, I have shot a friends quite a few times (he refuses to sell to me) and seen it shoot some impressive groups of just under an inch.

I wouldn't have been able to justify the cost of the SR 25 either. However one sat on the EE for a fairly long time and one of the accepted trades was a Kel tec RFB. Which I happened to have. A buddy and I did extensive ammo testing on his RFB (his arrived a fair bit before mine), so mine was barely used (under 20 rounds). However I knew the RFB pretty well after we finished all the testing. 1.5 moa for 5 rounds using 168 reloads was the very best we could get out of the RFB. It was tough but if there was one semi 308 I was willing to sell/trade the RFB was it. Really tough though to let it go due to it's super short length and bullpup design. But the opportunity to trade towards the SR 25 was there and it was a very fair trade. Otherwise there was no way I could/would have paid the $6100 retail for one. The one I have as shown in the photos is the SR 25 ECR 20" . It does have the older 3.1 rail but... it's also fairly iconic in my mind for the distinct KAC look.

With the LMT you get about 90 percent of the KAC. It used to be at about 50% of the price, but prices have crept up. Still you can sometimes find a good deal on one second hand.

A couple of side notes regarding LMT:
1) The barrels used to be Mike Rock, including the CL ones. I don't know if that's still the case or not (I believe they make them inhouse now?) . However with LMT you know they would only change with an equivalent or better product.
2) The monolithic upper/straight gas block design is used by the Colt Canada C8 IUR versions. LMT has the patent though.
3) ISO 9001 manufacturer
4) Has a very close relationship with KAC

The 223 mrp version is exceptional as well. Thanks to the initial influx of these rifles by Questar back at super shot show pricing there were a fair amount of them bought. Plus they were the "it" gun for a while. Now DD is the one everyone flocks to. Which can leave some smoking deals on these rifles. There are some exceptional products out there that aren't the flavour of the year. LMT is one of them.

I'm a big fan of the HK91 as well. Bartok5 has posted few of those and I'm very jealous! I would definitely want a few of those. Plus they are iconic, like the MP5. Nostagic and very cool firearms. They were one of the first firearms I inquired about when I started into this. Unfortunately they were prohibited.

The HK MR308 isn't too bad price wise considering the prices of these things. I'm looking at you KAC! It's about the same as the LMT. I was however shocked that the 223 version was almost the same money. WTF? Right now you can't even find them. Still the pricing is extremely high for them. I might just stick to the 308 version. See above regarding the US army version. If this is ever released to the public, then this will likely be the ultimate H&K 308. The two major shortcomings are addressed. USA made vs German made however would be another issue.

yep, got rid of the XCR-M cause its not as tight grouping as I would of liked. I was also paranoid of the barrel retention bolt and took a torque wrench with me every time I went to the range with the XCR-M. I will say though, the XCR-M has the best bolt release of all the rifles I've used. I wish the HK has a trigger guard bolt release too lol.

The POF is very nice. Feels very tough and well, take a look at the POF meltdown video that IV8888 made. It shoots nice as well. If shooting match ammo, it lags only a little bit behind the MR308. But it doesnt do good groups with surplus ammo and since I mostly shoot surplus ammo, I use the MR308 more. MR308 does half inch at 100 yards with PMC Bronze...
The bolt on the POF, due to material or coating, is super smooth and super easy to clean. I do find the right side bolt release on it to be very stiff though (maybe bad leverage in the shape or size of lever).

I see people bring up hard to source parts for HK all the time. So far I've managed to break the charging handle for the MR308 once. I got a replacement and a surefire flashhider for it from HK parts. What other spare parts are needed? Not trying to dispute people's statements, but just wondering, what else do I need to get or what else might break? Right now the only parts in my cart is the Giselle trigger.

Put a SSA in my MARS-LS, love it.

Awesome! Nice to see some of these.

For those that own SR 15 rifles... does the left side of that LMT MARS lower look familiar? The ambi bolt release on the right side is different, but compare that lower to the SR 15. The LMT MWS 308 and KAC SR 25 share the same similarity. Plus that MARS and the SR 15 look like scaled down version of the 308 rifles lowers. On another side note. KAC/LMT and H&K know how to do ambi controls! They protect the needed ambi functions. It's not an afterthought.

The KAC is a dream type thing for me, but honestly the HK MR308 is higher on the list for me. I may go that route since there is another range about 45minutes to me that if I remember correctly is 200m. Since no MR223 rifles are going to be around anytime soon that may be my only option. I notice there are a few used ones available out there. Ideally I would like the A3 model without the quad rail to get the weight down a bit but I would "settle" for a quad rail 14.5" or 16.5".

I am sort of stuck going the used route since I do not want to spend 5K on the rifle. I can stomach 3-3.5K barely. I wanted to build a Stag10 in 308 but after figuring out how much it will cost to get it exactly the way I would want (either Proof Research or JP Enterprises Barrel ect.) It would end being more then the price of a used mr223 or mr308 which I want more. If I did not just buy a NightForce NX8 I would snatch up Tiker's black one before some one else does. It even has the HK Diopter sights I would want. I can only imagine that optic paired with that rifle...........

The KAC is sort of the one you get when you have the others or one of those deals comes around that you just have to make it happen. It's a hard pill to swallow for the new price. As nice of a rifle as it is, it's not 6K+ nice. Not when you can get some very nice stuff at the $3500+ price range.

Definitely go for the A3 model and not the A1. The A3 ambi features are right up there with the KAC. Unfortunately you can't buy the Gissele 308 HK handguard on it's own. But that would be the way to go. The newest version handguard is better than the quad rail, but I'm not thrilled with the looks. With the 223 versions I really love the Geissele and the MI handguards would be my second choice. Hopefully they offer the US military version to the civilian market for the MR308.

The Stag is nice and I'm happy with how mine is coming together (delayed by being sent the wrong barrel). But.. it's not a military grade rifle the way these other ones are. If you were to get a Stag 10 instead of the HK, you would always really still want the HK. Worth getting the HK first.
