S&W Model 19 Combat Magnum Classic with 4-1/4 Inch Barrel

All my S&Ws (.22s to .44 magnum) are of the earlier generations - all steel. A mix of 'pinned & recessed', pinned but not recessed, trigger stops, no trigger stops, etc. Love 'em all.

The polymers are removed midway during the MIMs process and only act as a binder in the early stage. So no, they're no polymers in the MIMs metal after it's finished.

I managed to polish my MIMs to a mirror finish and greatly improved the smoothness of my DA pull.

Also the hammer hits the firing pin when you pull the trigger and not the hammer block, have a good look ;)

No S&W revolvers have ever had transfer bars, they have hammer blocks.

It is also my experience that the MIM guns can be tuned up similarly to the traditional guns. Extended firing pins are available as another option if you really want to push the envelope in reducing trigger pull. Furthermore, the rimfire S&Ws have always had a separate firing pin. The only real criticism is that the MIM parts do look kind of chintzy.

I would love to just pick up an old 4" Model 19, but that is unfortunately out of the question if one is not grandfathered for 12(6).

Love the M19 especially with 4.25” barrel. Here’s my 19-5 customized by Murray Charlton. I’ve posted numerous photos of this one before but figured it deserves another look considering the subject of this thread.

The nicest Smith I ever owned was an old "S" series 29 in .44 Mag. The fit and finish and smoothness was fabulous. You couldn't ask for higher quality.

The older 'S' guns really were put together by craftsmen, I agree. I have a 1954 5 screw pre 27 that is just built to be amazing forever...and it has the 5'' barrel to make it even more better. (This is an occasion where saying 'more better' is an acceptable mis-use of the English language).

I have put a deposit on a S&W PC Model 19 Carry K Comp in my gunshop in New Hampshire

I don't know if this one is better or not than the old models but.............according to Jerry this one can eat hot 357 magnum loads all day long while older couldn't.

So the S&W 686 "Canadian Edition" was not really intended for the Canadian market. Here I thought S&W was being nice to us Canucks. I'll still take what I can get.

Even on US forums they blame Canada...lol
Love my new 66. Made me get nack into enjoying revolvers and getting more
