My WWII collection seems to be growing by leaps and bounds lately. I started out wanting to have max two firearms from each of the major players from WWII.

So far I have in my posession a 1943 M1 Garand, SVT-40; and I have a 1950 Lee Enfield #4 Mk1 (although not from the war itself, being in excellent condition I couldn't pass it up). They all have slings but the M1 and SVT have the stripper clips/enblocs. I have one cleaning tool for the M1. On top of this I have bandoleers, clips, and the locking screws are in the mail for a K98.

I am in the process of purchasing a K98 and SVT tool from P&S, and a M44 from Navy Gunner.

I still need to buy:
1. M91/30, repro PU scope/mount, bolt body (in discussions about)
2. Lee Enfield #5 Mk1 Jungle Carbine
3. 1903A4 Springfield (to be my last rifle)
4. Various accessories (cleaning tools, bayonets, etc)

So how am I doing? I'll have pics in the morning. I've been thinking of buying a brand new 1903A4 from National Match in the US. Yeah, its going to cost me an amazing amount of $$. The way I see it, its going to be crazy amount of money for a used one anyways (not to mention how hard it can be to find a good conditioned one), or I can try and build my own (still crazy amount of $$).

KLUNK! I was feeling good about my small collection, always made me smile when I looked at it... I don't know what to think now, I'm going to mow the lawn, when I get back I'll try to re-think this, maybe I'll buy another to help me get over it :D
I have a pic somewhere without the ugly trigger locks on (wife took this, I usually take photos of guns in their wild state). I've also got an M1 carbine that bubba cut the front sight guards off, a swede and turk mauser, carcano, ftr no4mk1 (pic is LB), few more... rack is full others are locked away, I'm too jealous to get them out for pictures atm... and that boyds stock suddenly seems more offensive... :bangHead:
Summerside, I'm impressed, you seem to have the money and the will to make a very nice colection, if you have a wife she's a keeper, maybe she could give mine some pointers on coping with a smile... :bigHug:

Looks like your doing just fine. Personally I'd skip the Jungle carbine and put the money towards a war dated Long Branch. You could also add a Brit No.4, Brit and Aussie MKIII*'s etc. DONT buy any more German made K98's because I want them all now!
Cheers

As for the money and the will. I certainly have the will, but I have to be carefull how much I spend. I have given myself a limit of $200/mo. Thats been very hard to keep to, but I'm getting better. As for keeping the wife happy, well, thats been very hard. Part of it is, if she don't know, she don't get mad. And part of it is, I have a love for WWII, so she does have an understanding, to a limit. I told her I was going to try and do a M91/30 repro PU sniper, and she got mad, but she got a good smile on her face when I told her a bit of the history, with women being great snipers for Russia and all. There's a lot of give and take over the last two and some years.

"...a limit of $200/mo..." Not enough anymore. Unless that's how much you can manage to save in a month. A 1903A4, if you can find one, will run you over 2 grand Cdn. alone. Three grand and up in USD plus the importing fees, duty and taxes. They shoot astoundingly well with match grade bullets and IMR4064.

We're in very similar situations summerside sniper, must be a maritime thing ;)
Nice stuff you have there, most of mine aren't really collectables due to condition, but it gives me what I want where I can't afford hiogh end stuff (boyds stock on my garand, RC k98, LBno4 not the best shape, etc.
I plan to watch and likely upgrade pieces when I can afford, but plan to keep shooters.
