Short barreled shotguns

I took my canuck defender regulator wood combo out for skeet today. Broke 24/25 then 23/25 with full choke and full stock. Swapped the choke to a mod and switched to the birds head stock and broke 21/25. Overall im impressed with this cheap offering from canuck. The misses were no fault of the gun

I can't seem to find a 12.5" barrel with a bead sight anywhere anymore.

Even the factory Rem 870 14" ones are crazy expensive in Canada now.

I also don't want one of those Turkish guns that aren't compatible with the Rem 870 either.

$250 is expensive? They used to be $400 not that long ago.

Problem with a bead sight on a short barrel is that the shorter the barrel the higher the sight needs to be. If you notice the Remington bead sight are on a pedestal on their short barrels. Take a ruler or straight edge and set it on the top of the receiver. If the bead is lower than that, your point of impact will be very high. That is why the Dlask barrels have a blade on the front of their short barrels. I had a DA 8.5 with a bead and it was over 3ft. high @ 50 yds

They pop up on the ee all the time worst case scenario just drill and tapped a bead it's not hard to do at all but like dogzilla said you'll probably have to find a pedestal or youll be aiming at feet.

Same problem with my new Canuck 14”.

Are there any sub 14" shotguns that are priced similarly to Dominion Arms/Canuck but are not made in Turkey?

This disappoints me.

They say wholesale price is too high to bring in and make it worthwhile, yet a ton of people are looking for them. Seems to me there is a demand, I know I would pay more for an 870 clone than I would for a Turkish shorty. Feels like Canam isn’t listening to their target audience, they have yet to tell anyone what the estimated new retail price will be so how do they know people won’t buy them?

They just need to bring in the barrels. As for the 870 clones, look to the used market.
