I see Marstar is selling belted surplus Swedish 8mm
It's being sold as salvage ammo
Does anyone have any experience with the Swedish ammo? Is it corrosive and berdan primed?
Was thinking of getting some and trying it out or just using the bullets and powder for reloading
It says the belts are for a 1919 so that's a bonus it should work in my m37 :)
 
It's corrosive it's berdan primed & it's not 8X57 it's 8x63 & it's old ww2 surplus
Works great in my 1919A4 but you need a 8x63 browning barrel (good luck finding one in Canada) or a 8x57 barrel & have the chamber reamed out to 8x63 . You also have to modify the bolt face & open up the recoil booster .
It's pretty hot MG ammo
 
Priced nicely, but if all you are using is the projectiles, factoring your time to pull and sort them all, might be an exercise in futility.
Could work up a load and use the powder that's in them, but where do you start.... arbitrary x grains? Your guess is a good as mine.
 
This deal would yield:

- 1250 bullets;
- 9.5 lbs of powder;
- five belts; and
- 40+ lbs of empty brass

1250 bullets would weigh about 150 lbs. While they don't have a Store Front Retail Operation, Marstar would possibly be open to pick ups.

There are numerous threads about using this powder and the bullets, mostly from more than three years ago, concentrated 5-10 years ago. Do a search on "8X63".

its a VERY VERY hot mg ammo my semi 1919 ran fine with it but like below I had to get an 8x63 barrel good luck these days modify a booter I opened one WAY up so as to cycle but not beat my gun up I used a izzy bolt which feed them fine

andy looking at my crates from last time (that are under stuff) I thought it was 1500 rnds 6 belts per crate? I liked it better at $99.99 a crate but that was what 7-8 years ago now?

The deal was for 1000 rounds, but a full crate comes with 1750 rounds. Here's the OLD Ad.

I bought two crates from the last batch. Loaded into 8x57 cases, every load i tried kicked like a mule and shot low on every milsurp I tried it on. Still have a bunch of the powder I dont know what to do with. To make things even more interesting, I had to hit every primer in the 8x63 cases before the scrap yard would take them. FUN!

No it's not "Steel Core", but there is steel in the jacket. I possess many thousands of rounds of it and it's Lead Core with a Cupro-Nickel Steel-Clad (CNSC) Jacket. There were several types of 8X63 ammo produced, including an Armour Piercing round that had a Steel Core, but this is more of a "General Purpose" (m/32) ammo that sectioned appears as below.

Shipping is going to be a killer.

A full case of this power fits in a 9.3x57 case with a 232 gr bullet on top shoots 2020 fps, 2" high at 100 yards in my Husqvarna.

Each pulled round produces approximately 53.0 grains of powder. I use it in quite a few different rounds and find it to be similar to IMR4064 +/- in "Burn Rate", but as with all powders, that varies with chambering and bullet weight.

So this stuff is 8x63 then, I ordered 500 rounds of it to try out (2 belts)
Can it be used in my mg34 and k98 as is?
Or am I better off breaking it up and loading it up into the privi brass that I have

This ammunition is 8x63. It is not correct for either a standard K98 or MG34 in 8x57 caliber.
You can break it down and use the bullets and reduced powder charges to load 8x57.
