Marstar Swedish 8mm surplus ammo

On another note, after I pull the bullets and powder from the cases, would the primers be of any use to someone who wants berdan primers but can't find any?
Is it possible to remove the primers without destroying them?

I'd say yes, if you used the "Hydraulic" method. It's been shown many times that brief exposure to water, even oil, does not kill primers. The primers are not crimped in place.

I am trying to justify this purchase to myself.

I would look at a few cases, in order to reduce my per price shipping cost.

What is the value of the brass as scrap? Last i heard, brass is $2.00-$3.00/lb, but is rifle brass considered "normal" brass?
I assume this brass cannot be resized to 30.06?
From what i am reading, the powder can be re-used...and safely?
I would also consider selling off any surplus bullets that i wouldn't end up using. Was is the value of bullets like this nowadays?

The brass can be sold as scrap brass in my experience, but the primers will either need to be "killed" or removed. As for killing primers, I mean "fire" them, as also in my experience, soaking in water or even oil, even for up to a week, only kills them temporarily.

The only common cartridge that comes to mind that these could be resized to is 9.3X62, but I'd expect that age brittleness would result in a lot of culls. It's Berdan-Primed too, so all told I'd say this course of action is not practicable.

Lots has been written here on CGN on using the powder.

The bullets have been peddled here on CGN in the past, and seemed to fetch $0.10-0.15 a round, but the market is small. Another option is to melt the bullets to extract the lead. They're not quite FMJ, as the base is open and when melted, the lead freely flows from the base. Each 218 gr bullet yields about 180 grs of lead, so 1250 rounds yields not only 9+ lbs of powder and 35+ lbs of brass, but 30+ lbs of lead, as well as the five belts.

Price of shipping notwithstanding, a resourceful person willing to do a bit or work, can salvage quite a bit of valuable components from this.

That said, sit on the fence too long (like in the past) and this will all be moot.

I have used the projectiles for 8mm Mauser and 8mm level with great success.

Some of the brass I reload for him bring rounds in my Mauser have 12+ loads on them and still going strong. I anneal the brass every 3 loadings or so.

So my understanding is that the powder in this ammo is comparable to IMR 4064 so I should be able to use 4064 reloading data for 8x57 and be good to go correct?

I have no idea yet, that's one bad thing about dealing with Marstar as they don't disclose the shipping rate at time of purchase.
Hoping i don't get a$$ raped too bad! Lol

I was contacted by Marstar before my order was completed with two shipping options for the case I ordered, Day-Ross truck transport at 177.07 or Canpar at 69.00 with the case made up into three separate parcels. Case weight is 165 pounds. The figures I gave for shipping cost are from their business to Woodstock,ON, a relatively short distance in the shipping business.
Shipping stuff like this across country I would imagine would get pretty pricey.

Easiest way I've found to fire live primer's in scrap brass is on a barbque. Just keep the lid down

That won't satisfy the minions at must scrap yards I'd say. Unless they can see the primer is fired, not worth their time.
How do I surmise this?
Bee-do! That is a minion noise...I am one more often than not.

well they changed the priceing today I ordered 2 (was going to do 4 but changed my mind) crates last Friday 1250 rnds each crate for $200.00 each today I got a call saying no more 1250rnd crates its now 1750rnds a true full crate at $280.00 they wanted 177 day and ross to Ontario GTA area so I asked what 3 crates was shipped and it was $190.00 so I went with 3x 1750 rnd crates guess

The primer doesn't stay in the case, it pop's out with a very loud bang

a vendor that is now "persona non grata" on CGN

Can someone tell me why this vendor is persona non grata? I don't want to start a flame war, I really don't know. I haven't spent much time on this site.

I've bought from them, always been fine. Phone calls and emails were always professional and timely. When I called about this ammo they immediately did a magnet test - result was weakly magnetic, which they told me right away. So I have always had good experiences.
