The new Tikka T1X Rimfire

Lol don’t do what I did. Although I did not care but I broke that massive cover off the bottom of the magazine on purpose because I figured there would be a flat cover underneath to keep the spring in bit apparently they didn’t bother work that. All I need is a flat bottom mag plate to clip on my magazine and it will be fine again. Just don’t get what the fins were eating or drinking the day they decided to make humpback whale and camel magazines hahahahahaha

Mine came in the door today,
sweet little rifle. 16" 22lr. Only thing... normal T3 rail won't fit, front screw holes must be drilled further back.

Does the rail fit on the rear of the action and clear the ejection port? I have a spare T3 rail and I’m wondering if I can just drill new holes in the rail.

Yes, exactly what I will do. The rear two screws are screwed in in the picture, Front don't match up. It didn't look as if the rail is obstructing ejection of cases.

Just took out my 308 CTR From it's E-Tac4 stock and put in the T1X, will be my garden trainer. Fitted absolutely perfect into the factory bedded stock. The floorplate is narrower than the CTR and therefore there is a little gap left and right of the T1X floorplate but function is perfect. This is what I wanted all along, something to replace dry firing.... a 22 in a proper stock, same stock I use for hunting.
Just need to fit the rail and dig out a different scope.

Looks great ! And that's good news about the rail as I picked up a 20 moa Tikka rail that I will drill new holes in as well. I am really hoping the MDT LSS Tikka stock I have will work with the Tikka T1x floorplate and mag.Thats if my preorder ever gets here ,,,,,,

That is exactly why I ordered a T1X.

I’ll have a T3 in .308 (soon to be 6.5), .223 and .22lr, all with Bravo stocks and Bushnell scopes with the same reticle.

I really feel like this last minute oh by the way the magazine is way bigger for the 22lr sucks I was planing on this being my silhouette riffle and now I’m not sure if my grip will get around the mag. I wonder how long it will take to make a flush mount 5rnd mag

They make smaller mags. We somehow got the camel hump mags for ours. I fixed my mag temporarily today. So now my mag barely protrudes from the gun. Just take the hump cover off and use something to plug the hole so the spring can’t come out lol!!!! I’m waiting for new magazines tho lol

I brought mine home today. I work for SAIL in the hunting dept. in Etobicoke. My apologies to all those still waiting to get their hands on one, but I needed to own this as soon as I opened the box to put the price tag on it. Then I handled it and decided that forgiveness is easier than permission. Just waiting for everyone to be asleep so I can bring it out of the trunk.

I believe each of the SAIL stores got one in .22 and at least 1 in .17
Mine is the 16 inch and the one on display in Etobicoke is the .17 in 20 inch.

Tried some bases and found these that will fit the flat top:

Weaver #61 both front and rear

Burris Tru Mount 2Pc Tikka Reversible #410266 ( These are similar to the Leupold with a reversible base to offer mounting options )

Leupold 2 Pc Std Tikka T3 #54447

Mine is wearing the #61 Weavers but my nephew who knows more about this than I do says that Talley's will live there soon.
I already have a Leupold 2-7 on my Ruger 10-22 that can pressed into duty and can probably find some low weavers in the Partz bin.
Since I'm taking it along next week when I go Deer hunting I can only expect limited time with it in the near future but I'll try to get back with updates when I can.

See post #458 and #487. I’ll claim 1/2”@50yards can be hit quite consistently. I’ve yet to test my match ammo yet also...

I am heading out after work tomorrow. Smash the piggy bank and run a couple eley and laupa brands through. But with that becomes a different issue. For a true test, you need to clean out the fouling from the last batch of ammo run through.

I find testing 4 different types between 2 brands takes 1/2 a day. Set up targets, clean rifles, foul barrel (waste 30 rounds) then have 70 left for targets. Then Repeat 3 times.

A proper test requires it. And I am a great champion of never cleaning a rimfire barrel, for an accurate representation of what difference does ammo make you have to do exactly that. Even though it costs you the valuable fouling you just laid down.

YoDave set me straight on that one. As he said I have no clue what the ideal amount of fouling is. But I do know how many shots from CLEAN it takes to get my rifle shooting as it should.

And so I will clean my rifle between ammo batches. Weather Permitting naturally.

Wasting 60.00 of ammo when the wind sucks is not gonna happen.

Thanks, I completely missed those posts. I thought people were just getting their rifles in, putting on their scopes, changing out stocks, and taking fancy photos :p

Someone put Talleys in place(clamp style) found it gripped okay but the domed receiver to the the flat bottomed ring didn’t offer much support
