What's in your pack? (truck camping edition)

was just thinking of asking this same question, glad I found this thread

also, what is Moose Juice?

It is a synthetic moose attractant, very pungent. I always spray my boots no matter what I am hunting (after I get out of the truck) I find it is more effective to cover my scent than be scent free if that makes sense. Comes in a small handy sealed spray bottle.

I'm a bit of a minimalist

compass
Knives 3 or 4
hatchet
toilet paper
matches
tags and licence
250ml water
3/8" braided rope about 20'
lunch and coffee

and normally that will all fit in the pockets of my jacket, so I don't need a pack.

oh I forgot, orange flagging ribbon and a headlamp

My minor input. I have done a fair bit emergency shelter building. Im talking about extremely primitive lean to for very basic shelter in an unplanned situation. I found a folding saw far easier, faster, more energy efficient than either a good machete or axe. If I could only carry one of these it would be the saw. Mine is about 10 inches when closed and is extremely light.

You of course need an edged tool of some sort for so many reason. Reason for my post is that some may not have tried or considered a small folding saw, you wont even notice you have it 😁

I agree, my Gerber saw folds up small and has 3 blades, wood, bone and metal. ($25)

Much safer than an axe as well, swinging a sharp axe when tired, wet with poor lighting is riskier than a hand saw.

Having both is the best if u don't mind the extra weight.

Cliff bars are very noisy to open and it seems like no matter where you put the wrapper it is still crunching away, they should make a stealthy wrapper for hunting. I unwrap mine and put then in sandwich baggies.

A few years ago I saw these fleece pouches with a quiet zipper and the inside is similar to the plastic used for the flexable pack water bladders. They are made for repacking your snacks so you can access them quiety in the tree stand and are machine washable as well. I think I got them from an online archery shop on vancouver island..... i forget now.
anyhow, can fit 3 cliff bars in one pouch or a healthy sandwich.
