We’re limited to .22 Cal for coyote, which allows me to carry my .223 or 22-250 in the bush for 10 months of the year.
.243 is limited to big game regs which are a no go , unless you have a big game licence.
Then it’s only good for short periods of time and only in the area you have a tag for.
In that case, if it were me, I’d go .243.Our regs have actually relaxed as of this spring. Here we can now hunt big game with a .223 and above. There is no cal. restrictions on coyote here in Sask.
Cheers!!
too much taper in the 22-250 case to stack properly in 308 mags. If all you want is 3rds, maybe 4rds, it might work. Thus that really funky Pat pending mag... internally, it will be curved like an AK mag to aco#### for the case taper.
If you want a fast 22cal, get a 22 Creedmoor. I just started playing with one in a bolt rifle and it shoots very well. Feeding is no problem, like all of the Creedmoor family
For a 6mm, I would still go 6mm Creedmoor vs the 243. housing the Creedmoor case in "shorter" OAL mags is just so much easier. No real difference in performance.
And Yes, all of these chambers would be possible in AR10 barrels... pm or email

22 Creedmoor is definitely the sensible solution. The case was designed to feed well in an AR10 and give room for long bullets with the mag length restriction. But my not-so-sensible side wants a 22-243 Middlestead!
Would re barreling a Stag to .243 require a new bolt?
No, you don't need a new bolt with any of the 308 case family cartridge and including wildcat.
