My vegan girlfriend wants to come hunting with me

Make sure her intentions are right.
If she comes along and take pics of you gutting bambi's mom or dad that could come back to you at some point in the future.
Nowadays a bunch of people get all bent out of shape if they see a picture of a harvested animal with a hunter who smiles for the camera...

Just wondering why she is a vegan? Is it a health choice or is it due to compassion for animals? Either way congrats to her for being open minded. She should watch a few episodes of meateater before she goes. Rinella is a good ambassador for the sport and hopefully you are too!

No!

She will be fine right up until you go to shoot and then she will make a fuss or do something to scare the animal away.

If you feel like breaking up go ahead and take her hunting.

Good for her, I know a couple ex vegans that realized that eating foods that had to be brought in from the other side of the world had a bigger environmental impact on the world than trying to eat local or wild meat. They now eat meat that they raise or hunt, no factory farmed meat hits their table. Same with produce, they grow it or buy from local farm stands. If she’s starting to realize this maybe it’s a good thing for her to get out with you and experience what hunting is all about, I hope it is an eye opening experience for her.

Some vegans are more against what they see as cruelty in the meat industry then they are against the ethical harvesting of game meat to be eaten.

If she wanted to be taken coyote hunting, then I’d be suspicious lol.

Shes more vegan for health reasons and to not support factory farming, the whole greenhouse gas thing and everything. Shes definitely aware of the merits of eating local. I'm happy she wants to come. Hopefully all goes well

A friend of mine who was a vegetarian came hunting with me (upland birds) and was not upset when my dogs pointed and I shot the birds. She did find pulling the birds nasty but then again a guy I took out for his first white tail hunt puked as I dressed the deer.

^^This^^

You know her better then most, but a Vegan wants to observe a death of an animal?......that cannot go well. Leave her at home, but if you take her do not harvest the animal with her there. Just let her enjoy.

I would go over the details of what is going to happen when you do see a whitetail. If that grosses her out than leave her at home.

That being said - I give her Kudos for being open minded enough to see for herself - I hope it goes well for both of you.

Vegan would make me run as fast as I can. They usually come with other personality issues as well. :)

Grizz

This ^^^^ (in My experience) they are just too fussy/fancy to enjoy the hunting experience. Your mileage may vary. Just dont get mad at us if she a) breaks up with you for your "inate cruelty" or b) vilifies you now or later on social media. Good luck

One of my hunting buddies is vegan. He loves to hunt, has shot more deer than me. He gives his share to his sister who is struggling to raise 3 kids on her own. There are many vegans who have no issue with hunting. Being vegan is not the same as being a PETA member.

I say good for her, hope she enjoys the experience, and ignore the uneducated opinions of those above
