Due to some back issues, I have parted ways with my O/U that I loved shooting, but I could barely walk or move shortly after shooting it.

So I am wanting to go with a semi, a few of the guys at my club talk about how their semi's they have very little felt recoil, and I believe that is the way to go.

I am looking for suggestions. I have shouldered a Beretta A400 xcel black edition and it fit great, where when I was shouldering their O/U, they never aligned well with me.
The gun I just parted with is a Citori 725, and it fit great, but it is out of the picture now.

I am open to other suggestions of guns to take a look at, my budget is around the $2400 range.

Beyond my Rem 1100 price range; however, the Benelli super sport has some good reviews.

If your back is sore I would say it’s more likely the weight then the recoil. This is purely a guess, and a new gun usually cures all and it’s fun of course.

i was just in the market for a semi, was going to buy a A400 Xcel but when i picked it up i was just not sure about it becasue of the price tag, i came across a 1100 competition on the EE here and have shot about 200 rounds through it in the last 2 weeks and absolutley love it, has zero recoil and beautiful wood. i would highly recomend asking a guy at your club to try his semi before you buy one.

I shoot a Beretta 391 semi c/w the kick-off recoil absorber - it is a very light shooting gun. It also has stock shims to adjust the stock geometry. I've started to shoot it preferentially over my expensive over and unders.

Beretta A400 Xplor 28" with KICKOFF. Try before you buy, and you can't have mine ! just noticed you said mainly trap, so you might want the 30" barrel. Also, the Excel is a way different gun, 1 lb heavier, very thick buttstock, I didn't like mine much.

Having owned most brands of semi-auto's out there, and shooting mostly skeet/5-stand, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the 1100 Competition or the A-400. The Beretta is (was)on sale at The Gun Dealer and would be my first choice if the two are within a few hundred dollars of each other. At normal prices the Beretta is almost twice the price of the Remington.

I bought a new A300 at the Wholesale closing sale for $900 and it has worked fine for trap. Points well for me, light, fast handling and handles all the cheap shells from my ammo locker.

I really like my Browning Sporting Clay Gold, 28" ported barrel , they discontinued them but I am sure you can find one, beautiful gun, and will do it all, trap, skeet, 5 stand. Or Browning will have something for you, have a look at the Maxus sporting, they are around $1300.
