Because game animals belong to us all, and restricting access to the rich is exactly the European model of privilege that the egalitarian principles of our country were designed to avoid.
Beyond that, huge tracts of agricultural land are leased Crown land that belong to us all, despite the attitude of some lessees. They are paying for grazing rights and agricultural potential, but title and assets, like game animals, are held in trust for the residents of the Province
Private land owners have the right to control access to their lands, but the issue is more complicated than some on this site would have it.

Actually , they are the Queens deer. :)

I was out in the field with a high hoe burning and burying a demolition with my operator, hunters drove right past us didn’t stop or wave. No acknowledgement whatsoever, if you hunters get shut down on private property that’ll be the reason why.

So if I wanna hang out on a patio and have a BBQ next time I'm in the city, if there's no signs is it ok to just pick a yard and help myself?

I just want to relax and enjoy the fresh air that belongs to all of us...

It is not the attitude of some lessees of grazing/agriculture leases. It is the the trespass law and the policy of the Ministry of Agriculture Land Branch. Agriculture lease holders have the same rights as private landowners to make the control decisions as to who has access to the land. 12 months of the year. I hold a grazing lease tract and can absolutely post it no hunting/trespassing if I were to so choose. I have confirmed this with the Ministry. The only ones I cannot deny access to is Ministry employees or those that they authorize access( eg. Oil and gas). This is different from unoccupied Crown lands which to my knowledge are open to any member of the public. I do not post my lease or deny access to hunters. But with the new law coming in I think you should clarify the Crown lands rules for yourself. It could avoid possible conflict with an irate lease holder.

only yesterday did i have a issue with a truck hunting trespasser.

i have a stand set up,for myself and the land owner, its 3/4 mile from any given road.
each 1/4 section and the farm track access is heavily posted.
some MF drove through until 200 yards of the stand were i was hunting.
my stand isnt facing towards were they drove and for one moment i thought i heard a truck, but thought no way

cant wait to catch them.

the land owner himself hunts,if him or i havent a draw tag he will let anyone who has the decency
to knock on his door permission to hunt.

If you want it to be pay to play on private land based on what it's worth today how about you pay back the costs of the roads around it based on today's construction costs. The cities subsidize your power bills because you actually cost money to provide power to because of the lower population density of the rurals and how much line is needed to get there and the upkeep on it.The carrying cost of the land isn't crazy from what my co-workers that own land tell me. It isn't being devalued by people walking on it. If it's pasture or crop you're making money off of it throughout the year.

This gotta pay for play is ridiculous. Im all good with doing it when I travel, but when my taxes and crown corp bills go towards giving everyone in the province high quality services i don't think you should be able to reap the benefits and shake down the people that enable your life style. Rogers having cell service on the highways and cities is how our phone coverage should be according to gotta pay or play. the farmers should be buying their own towers.

Your view on the rural folks is pretty f'ed up. If you think that the cities contribute everything and the rurals are just leeches... then you stay in your city. Us rurals can saw down the power poles coming into your precious city. Shut down the power plant in the scum of the earth rural area. In fact, stay the f out of the rurals if you want to hunt a deer. Oh, you want bread? grow your own wheat and mill your own flour. It's your bad attitude that rural land owners are sick of and want to keep the hell off their land. Give your attitudae a reality check and realize that without the rurals, the cities are nothing but a cesspool

Do you think the new law willl change that guys behavior?

So now all the thieves will have to ask permission before they trespass. Good thinking by the government.

LOL

You mean the thieves can now be charged with out having to be either told by the landowner they are trespassing and given a opportunity to leave or the land owner having to spend thousands of dollars to pre inform the thieve that he in fact does not own the land he knows he does not own.
