Heckler & Koch MR223A3 question

Does that b&t comp work with the rotex v cans?

And does the a3 have the vented self regulating gas block?

Not without modification. But mlok cover panels can be modded to fit.

Is the vented self regulating gas block the hole that spits gas forwards? If yes, then yep.

And yea, I picked up a set of MLOK type 1 and took a razor to it and made it work. I'm not sure if the MLOK type 2 can be as easily modified.

Can you post a pic with the cover? Also is that the surefire soccom flash hider on your gun?

Its a "SureFire SF3P-762-M15X1 Three-Prong Flash Hider"

I prefer how it looks without the cover, but I like how the cover feels, so covers are staying in.

That's gorgeous. Any reason you chose the 7.62 instead of the 5.56 model?

I am very excited to place my order for one.

I was ordering a charging handle on HKparts and thought I'd grab one of these since I'm already buying something. The 556 on HKparts is called "SureFire SF3P-556-1/2 X 28 Three-Prong Flash Hider- MR556 & HK 416", so due to it being a 1/2x28, I didnt get it.

Ah fair. How do you like it?

I like it. Cant speak to the effectiveness as I dont have chance to shoot after sun down, but it looks good.
Although if I can go back in time, I would not of bought it. I run an AAC blackout FH on my MR308 and I dont see why I should pay more to get the SF3P instead of a cheaper AAC. I think on The Truth About Guns the AAC was also ranked higher in terms of flash suppressing effectiveness than the Surefire. So I can't even explain why I got the SF3P instead of an AAC lol

Is it lighter than the aac? The 51t i had was a porker.

How is the Surefire attached here. Is there a short section of HKey rail there, or is there another mounting solution?

Is anyone seeing any HKey available for sale in Canada? I was hoping Tactical Imports was bringing some in with their HK stuff that just came in (I think every rifle was spoken for in pre-orders, as none went up on their website) but have not seen anything like that myself, on their site or elsewhere. If I want some, I might have to try and navigate the old "bring it up from the States" legal and practical minefield one more time, or get TI to order it and wait a year and a half (not fault of theirs, that just seems to be what it is).

I think for the price of the HK rail, you might as well as buy the Geissele SMR

The Hkey is not as expensive as you’d think. If you are just mounting an flashlight and need 1 piece of rail then go for the Hkey but if anything else go with geissele like Tiker said

Took out the MR223 and MR308 today and heres a range report:

My MR223 is 14.5 and set up with an Aimpoint PRO, which I am now selling cause my astigmatism makes the dot huge. My idea for it is 0-200M rifle.
I shot the following groups with it in prone and rifle rested on its magazine. The groups are not meant to show the rifle's accuracy potential as its not setup for that purpose.

Ignore the 308 holes for now.

Looks like there was a flyer at the bottom, but I didnt call it, so I'll count it anyways.

Fired 226 rounds from this rifle today. Fed from Lancer, Hex, and pmags. No issues at all.

Next up is MR308. My idea for this one is 200-600M rifle. Its set up with bipod and Minox ZP5 5-25 scope.
I was trying to get the smallest groups possible for the next few pics. Was shot in prone with bipod and rear bag support:

5 of PMC 147 at 100 yards:
As you guys probably noticed, theres 2 groups of 308s on this page. This is cause the first group of PMC shot so horribly that I knew it had to be my fault, so i tried again.

5 shots of Hirtenberger 147 at 100 yards:
This one I called the flyer long before I shot it, so I did not include it in the group. I shot the 4 shots and as I'm looking through the scope I kept thinking "looking good, dont ##### this last one up" and of course it still happened cause I just started swaying too much. Thats what I get for not practising enough....

Fired 20 rounds from this rifle today. No issues at all. I feel like if I went shooting once per week instead of once per month, the MR308 can do sub moa with the FGMM and hirtenberger.

As for cleaning, I spray G96 down the barrel, 3 patches, still comes out black, whatever, then put some oil into barrel for storage.
I dip a Q tip in motor oil and apply to the bolt and BCG.
Thats it. I normally dont disassemble BCG or gas system for cleaning.

I have had MR308 for a year now. 2-3 months on the MR223. The rifles have not given me any problems at all and I'm really enjoying them.
