Took out the MR223 and MR308 today and heres a range report:
My MR223 is 14.5 and set up with an Aimpoint PRO, which I am now selling cause my astigmatism makes the dot huge. My idea for it is 0-200M rifle.
I shot the following groups with it in prone and rifle rested on its magazine. The groups are not meant to show the rifle's accuracy potential as its not setup for that purpose.
Ignore the 308 holes for now.
10 rounds of M855 at 100 yards:
10 rounds of M855 at 200 yards:
10 rounds of AE223 55gr at 100 yards:
10 rounds of AE223 55gr at 200 yards:
Looks like there was a flyer at the bottom, but I didnt call it, so I'll count it anyways.
10 rounds of PPU 55gr at 100 yards:
Fired 226 rounds from this rifle today. Fed from Lancer, Hex, and pmags. No issues at all.
Next up is MR308. My idea for this one is 200-600M rifle. Its set up with bipod and Minox ZP5 5-25 scope.
I was trying to get the smallest groups possible for the next few pics. Was shot in prone with bipod and rear bag support:
5 of FGMM 168 at 100 yards:
5 of PMC 147 at 100 yards:
As you guys probably noticed, theres 2 groups of 308s on this page. This is cause the first group of PMC shot so horribly that I knew it had to be my fault, so i tried again.
5 shots of Hirtenberger 147 at 100 yards:
This one I called the flyer long before I shot it, so I did not include it in the group. I shot the 4 shots and as I'm looking through the scope I kept thinking "looking good, dont ##### this last one up" and of course it still happened cause I just started swaying too much. Thats what I get for not practising enough....
Fired 20 rounds from this rifle today. No issues at all. I feel like if I went shooting once per week instead of once per month, the MR308 can do sub moa with the FGMM and hirtenberger.
As for cleaning, I spray G96 down the barrel, 3 patches, still comes out black, whatever, then put some oil into barrel for storage.
I dip a Q tip in motor oil and apply to the bolt and BCG.
Thats it. I normally dont disassemble BCG or gas system for cleaning.
I have had MR308 for a year now. 2-3 months on the MR223. The rifles have not given me any problems at all and I'm really enjoying them.
