Hi All,

I have been looking/hoping/wishing for a Ruger #1 for few years now but despite the fact it's hard to find and somewhat over budget right now I also don't like the look that much.

After all those years on Sunday morning I had an epiphany! "Maybe there are other single shot out there in that caliber!" and obviously there is

So my question is, have you guys heard, own or tried the Henry single shot, the H&R handy rifle or the CVA? And what do you think? How do they feel?

I really like the Henry, it looks like something I would carry a lot in Northern Ontario.

Please, let me know and thank for your time!

Mossberg SSI? Not a fan of mossy rifles but a buddy has one and it shoots just fine and looks a lot like the Ruger. Not sure if it comes in your caliber, but Google away. They are cheap.

Ellwood Epps had the Henry Single Shots in stock, looks sold out now.
T/C Encore ProHunter is a great platform

I have two single shot 45-70's 14" and 22" barreled T/C Contender carbines Loaded with my 325gr FTX loads there is only 100fps velocity loss in the 14" barrel.

T/C Contenders are by far my favorite single shots I also had a 24" stainless T/C Encore barrel but sold it I found I always grabbed one of the Contenders.

Cva hunter or scout if you can find some one to import one.
The henry singles can be ordered in by any henry dealer. I was just talking with the folks at henry about a 41 mag. Great company. Another single shot is the traditions g2 outfitter. The new ones have a built in muzzle brake though

I'd love a Henry single shot 45-70gov, but haven't found a retailer with one for sale yet. There was a .223 steel Henry on EE not long ago that tempted me, but I have no use for a .223 at this point.
