Pistol or Revolver?

Maybe, if you are only planning on buying 1 gun, im always in the market for good revolvers so if there is another reliable brand I'll look at it, but only if i can get parts for it. This is a no brainer in my opinion.

I am curious. Where do you get parts for an Alpha? I have held and shot a friends and I have to tell you as far as quality is concerned they are light years behind a decent S&W or the Ruger GP-100.

Unless you really think you are going to shoot .357, and you are set on the Alpha I would be looking at the .38spl model. I have a S&W Model 10 I got off the exchange for $400. It is one sweet revolver. When I just want to plink the little K Frame 5" Model "10" is hard to beat. For IDPA Revolver Division I use a GP-100 with a 686 as a back up.

I am not knocking the Alpha but there are some really good buys floating around on the EE right now.

I view Alfa's as having been "OK" for what they are when the price was under $500. Not so much anymore at today's prices.
I had a 4.5" 9mm blued gun about 3 years ago. I bought it new on sale for $420+HST ($483 to NB) and sold it after about 6 months for what I had in it.
I think Canuck is right. They are a fair bit behind a decent Smith ot Colt. (I can't speak to Ruger as I've never owned one)

I didn't realize the price has gone up but I guess everything has gone up..... I like my short cylinder 9mm and find the fit and finish on par with my Ruger's.
Maybe some are worse then mine but overall I find the lines pleasing to my eye.

They often pop up used on the E.E. with the lighter spring for fair prices.

Blueline is the distributor and warranty and parts provider. I believe it's lifetime on the Alfa's for what ever that's worth.....
Mine is on par with a similar vintage Ruger SP101 as far as fit and finish.

Couple Alphas for you:

Yes :)

Semi-auto-Steel, hammer for sure. With the concept of daily carry a non-issue for 99.999% of Canadians, I don't see the benefit of a light gun.

Revolver- DA.

My opinion might be a little biased due to the fact that probably 80% of the pistol shooting I do is steel challenge, with a Shadow 1 and a Smith 627.

Don't actually own an alfa and probably never will. I sent an email regarding light trigger springs and various parts for them and the response was, they don't have anymore, won't be getting any again so im going to pass on these guns. I love the ruger revolvers, have 2 already, so im going with a gp100 blued 6". Pricey but you pay for quality and there parts for them for 50 years. I like the 357.round, i prefer to shoot the heavier loads. 38 special is ok but I prefer the bigger boom.
