overthetop: Go ahead and shoot and send me the results! The more the merrier!
damndirtyape, those are excellent observations. I know that a scope and a rest makes a HUGE difference, but that's OK so far because this is more for fun rather than direct competition. I am including the gun and optic (if any) used on the scores though, so we can compare similar rigs.
As for submitting multiple targets, pick one for your "official" one, but I'd be happy to score any others too (only one will be official, though.) I'd suggest the AR since - as you say - this is the Black Rifle forum, after all.
Also, you're absolutely right that in a real Z-situation you'd have positive ID of hits, so the inability to spot your own hits without an optic is a drawback.
In fact, to help address this - just today I redid the scenarios by lightening up the silhouettes. They are now a light grey (not black). Much easier to spot hits.
I love the idea of paintballs glued on. Another idea I had but have not yet tried is to take one of those adhesive shoot-n-see targets and cut out head-sized (or brain-sized) pieces. But for now the lighter targets should do.
Regarding size of kill-zone: For these scenarios, ANYWHERE on the head counts (even if it were not technically a brain or spinal column hit). Of course, the call is mine to make as I am scoring them.
Here is an example (using my own target) of a just-hit and a close-miss.
