I recently had a chance to shoot a 1911 and I was bitten by the 45 bug. The German 45 bug to be more precise.
While the 1911 is the most common 45 platform out there, my preference lies somewhere between the Walther PPQ 45, the Sig Sauer P227, and the Heckler & Koch HK45.
I really would prefer to hold each one separately and ideally get a chance to shoot them before making my purchase, but these are rather hard to come by and to my knowledge, there are no stores around Ottawa that carry any one of them, nor have I seen any member shoot any of them at my range.
Leaving aside the totally subjective matter of hand fit, does anyone have first hand experience with either one of these pistols, and what are your thoughts on them?
Primary purpose will be to have fun punching paper at the range (no IPSC, IDPA or other form of sanctioned competition).
Thanks and Merry Christmas!
