I wounder if there is such a place in Canada.

This guy went to Texas and they tested a bunch of ELEY lot with his rifle to see which worked best with his rifle

I also know that LAPUA does the same thing somewhere in Arizona.

Love the smell of Eley

Aquilla ammo is Eley primed and smells exactly the same.

don't want to be that guy, but their groups are not that great, considering the action is mounted into a vice.

most of the time I can do better groups at 50m with my Anschuetz mounted by a Leupold 12x scope, and i am not even a great shot.

Rudy Shultz in Kitchener used to offer that service.

Once you found a lot # your rifle liked , you would buy a few cases of that #.

As some of you may already know, Korth Group now offer the possibility to batch test Eley ammo at their Okotoks, Alberta location. This is really great as up til now, the only testing range available outside Europe was located in Texas.

As I was one of their first customer, I thought I’d share some pics and info about my experience.

If you’re lucky enough to live in Alberta I guess you can do the testing by yourself but as I am located a long way from Okotoks, I shipped my Anschütz 1913 barreled action and a Korth technician took care of the testing.

When my rifle was there, they had about 10 lots of Eley Tenex available. They start by shooting one group of 10 rounds with each lot and then they send you the results by email. You then have to decide which lots look more promising and choose the ones that will be tested in phase 2. Usually, they shoot 2 more groups of these lots so that you can get a consolidated group of 30 rounds. Again, you receive the results very quickly and you can take your decision on which lot you want to buy. There’s no minimum: you can buy the quantity of ammo you want.

As you can see in the pics, the machine rest and the range are really nice. The testing is made by professionals that you can really trust. They even use a seismograph to make sure that there are no vibrations left in the set-up before firing a new round !

All in all, I cannot recommend the great service I got from Korth highly enough. If you really want to get the best from your match rifle, do not hesitate to contact them, they are really fine people to deal with: http://eley.co.uk/canada-customer-test-range/

I will be glad to answer any question concerning my experience.

Looks super cool, however I hope the groups are much smaller when they are all said and done cuz right now out of my Vudoo I’ve fired exactly 60 rounds of SK Standard Plus and I’m well under .400” 10 shot groups at 50m and I haven’t even tested other ammo.

Shooting in the .3's is an incredible ten shot group size at 50m with entry level target ammo. Results like these should be posted for those who might consider the Vudoo.

Here are two groups I shot yesterday with it at 50 yards, rounds 50 and 60. Again this is only one type of ammo I have shot out of the rifle, I have done zero lot testing or brand testing. Once the weather warms up a bit I will do some more testing with it with some higher grade ammo.

Anyone else try this. A little pricey $300 but waived if you buy 5000 rds for $3000 approx.

I wonder if one could build a similar rig to hold your action and do it on your own

Oh I'm sure you could. A heavy padded vise and some way to adjust the aim shouldn't be that hard to figure out.

Eley Tenex.

Is it special Eley Tenex? Two dealers have it at $230 per brick before taxes (with tax in Ontario for $2599), and another having a case price of $2099 ($2373 with Ontario taxes), $3000 per case is somewhat high. Add $40 or a little more for shipping. Perhaps the testing fee is not waived after all.

The price I quoted was not an exact price but an approx price based on tenex retailing at 27-29 per 50 before taxes
