10/22 Curse - Upgrade no 2

Seems to like nearly anything, I mean it doesn't hate anything in particular. um the best shooting for high velocity has been winchester super x 40 grain hollow points, bought a case of 5000 years ago, it hammers gophers! The fed 525 bulk stuff has always been decent. Im not a fan of round nose, anything with a somewhat flat tip kills so much better I have found. Tightest groups to date have been with remington 36grain sub sonic.... bought a brick years ago but the price is crazy now! Just did a zero check last week at 75 yards. the win super x 40 grain was bang on, and doing about 1" groups, but the rem sub sonic was about 2" low but produced 2, 3 shot groups under a half inch in a row. dynamapoints shoot alright, and the s&b standard is great as well but both don't cycle the action 100%

So yeah the federal 525 bulk is my go to 'cheap' ammo.

Thanks for the info: it says “target” on the side of the barrel, that’s all I know. That would be great if it’s only a feeding issue, I can deal with that! I saw some pictures Online where the back of the casing had exploded and would’ve send material out of the chamber at the side of the gun. The poster explained that it was because the bullet hadn’t fully seated itself, but it was still able to be fired. They said it was because the casing was too large...

A little feeding problem is no big deal to me! Thanks for the help!

Dlask use to make 2 different barrels.
Sport and Extreme.
they stopped making the Extreme because people didnt understand what they where getting when they got the Bentz chambering.
so a lot of uninformed people crying and #####ing because they ordered it but didnt know it was a tighter chamber.
so Dlask would only put out Bentz chambers upon request - which im assuming they now call the Target Barrels.
i have one of each, both are great.
as long as you realize that with the chamber the way it is you cant shoot longer rounds.
that is the only real limitation to them, and as far as ive ever found the CCI Stingers and i think the Velocitors.

You did fine getting a rifle with an upgraded stock and barrel for 500.00
Dlask are busy getting the new Tuff 22 and high capacity 10/22 mags to market. :) If you wish to use these , your reciever can be modified.
People like the Dlask barrels fine, They start life as Green Mountain Blanks.
I have heard of them referred to as second tier behind Kidd, and Volquartson.
CCI stingers have longer brass and are not recommended for some chambers.
Many peoples guns like cci mini mags, or cci standard velocity.
You could get some sand bags or a rest and check to see what ammo your gun likes.
Quality ammo prices vary, It can be had from 4.50 to 30.00 per 50 rounds.

fixed the above for ya.

Federal Automatch isn't bad in mine, and CCI 40 grain is good. Snapcut, you might not believe this now, but the 10/22 can cost you more in upgrades than you paid for your rifle - they're addictive and they suck you in. You think to yourself, "that's pretty good, but I think if I just....." A year later and you're looking at a $1,000 gun saying "what the hell, how did that happen?"

And if you prefer CCI they can ream it to a sporter for a small fee. Mine was ordered with a sporter chamber and stingers drop in to the rim and slide out when tipped upside down.

As for ultralight bbls I actually didn't like mine. I had a Tacsol and it made the rifle feel too light for me. A 16.5" Dlask without fluting has the weight I prefer.

the more i shoot the Dlask 10.5" ones the more i think they are the prefect length/weight balance.
my 8.5 is nice but maybe too short, i have a 4" comp on it.
my 18.5 is god awful heavy and i couldn't imagine taking it out into a field for a day of plinking gophers.
i put a 10.5 on a co-workers and have played around with it on a couple occasions and the more i use it the more i want to whip up one for myself.
balance on it is sweet.

I have a 16.5 Dlask and I would say its on the heavy side. That being said it was totally manageable on 3 hour bird hikes through the bush. I prefer the look of the 16.5” in my X22 stock over a 10.5.

Hey guys thanks so much for your help!!! I decided to pull the trigger and make the rifle mine! I’ll try to post a picture below. I paid $500 (hope I got a good deal?). Might have aftermarket trigger too? Just put a scope on it some now to see if it can hold some tight groups?

Can’t seem to post picture with my phone? Maybe I’ll try some other time?
