ATRS Modern Sporter - Nov 30th : New video, Post 482

I was gonna add a mitigating solution, but that's probably what you're doing already. lol

Hope it's gonna ramp smooth enough.....

How many uppers out of the lot does this affect?

It's inherent to the design, with the Recievers attaching differently than an AR15, the rear mass of aluminum making up the hook intervenes with machining the recess in it's "traditional" location.

If you have an idea by all means email it to info@albertatacticalrifle.com but I'm confident in the steps we're taking. We've modified some uppers and done preliminary testing of the change being made with great results.

It is this type of approach that gives me full confidence in a magnificent final product.

When making anything problems will come up, you guys are just doing a fantastic job of dealing them them, up to and including keeping your customers informed.

I think everyone will agree that you guys should enjoy Christmas and then get back to work in the new year :p

All the best to you and yours!

Do you dudes watching this thread closely have a rough idea of timeline from order to shipping?

I snuck into the 2nd production run 3 days ago. I know there were only a few spots left. If you want in you should reach out to ATRS immediately. Hopefully there is still space

I'm curious about the charging handle problem and the potential solution. The only thing I can think of would be to machine gently sloping angles on the upper fore and aft sides of the insertion pockets ledges in order to allow the charging handle ears smoother travel back and forth across the pockets.

This is assuming the charging handle never has enough vertical play for the ears to drop BELOW the pocket areas when the BCG is in place.

Front of the charging handle rests on the top of the bcg so the ears don't wander at all.

An email blast was sent out a day or 2 ago to all of us who have uppers/lowers on order to keep us in the loop as far as how production is going and so on. Reading it , it appears the issue has been dealt with. From what I have learned, it was never a big issue but these guys are being 100% transparent, which is much appreciated by the way.
I am confident that when we get the uppers they will function in typical ATRS style. Flawlessly.

How do you know everyone got an email? I haven’t got anything since the confirmation email for my FA upper and lower.

Are you in the first run . I think all of us with first run lowers waiting on slick side uppers got one . fa uppers is moot as until the ss are done they wont start producing them , and the issue will already be worked out .

How many uppers are expected to make the first batch for anodizing? Since as I understand if you purchased 2 lowers and 6 uppers you will receive 2 uppers now and the remaining 4 later on it should be relatively easy to say "up to (sn# X ) will be filled by the first batch back from anodizing"?

:) Right off the bat... this is only meant in good fun.... but if I was put on the spot and had to give you the best answer I could at this very moment... I'd say somewhere between 1 and 450. Hope that narrows things down a little ;-)

The anodizer we use only can rack 100 uppers, so that will be the maximum per load. There are several points to mitigate who gets how many and when.
In fairness we think that making sure everyone that has a lower gets an upper to at least make 1 useful piece is best. Those who have ordered multiple uppers will be attended to as soon as we have enough uppers finished to do so.
Until we actually have the first batches anodized it is impossible to say exactly when and how many.
We are working hard to get the uppers done as soon as possible, but not at the cost of quality. As our email blast pointed out we have encountered some set backs that no-one could have predicted but are working hard to make up the down time.
