S&W M&P 15 Sport II or Norinco CQA

Somewhere around 9 or 10 K. it's pretty funny as this rifle usually gets shot at steel targets at distances no more than 100m. Even though hits on the 8" gongs were still happening, I thought something had gone wrong with the optic as the hits were inconsistent. So I finally pulled out the paper target and discovered why.

Now the question is do I buy another barrel or becuase they are so cheap, do I just get a whole new rifle? Laugh2

I’m not super familiar with AR’s, but 9 or 10 thousand rounds doesn’t seem like that much (yes, more than I’d ever do). I’ve seen you had a thread somewhere where your Norinco hit some ungodly number like 15k was it? What should the life expectancy be for an AR barrel? The norc is chrome lined, maybe that’s why it lasted longer.

I'm sure some AR barrels last longer, but it's hard to get upset at *only* 9-10K rounds. :)

Yes, I even mentioned the Norinco on this thread but the pics are gone now. The Norinco after 15K wasn't shooting precision groups but it wasn't keyholing. I assume the chrome lining helped it last longer. Other than the barrel, the rest of the S&W rifle has been trouble free. Replaced the extractor a couple of times, that's about it.

Pretty good endorsement for both rifles. Thanks for sharing your experiences with both rifles.

Great. Your Norinco has pencil profile barrel which outlived S&W government profile barrel.
Norinco CQA is not a beauty queen but it is not a joke either, it is made for some serious business.

I originally planned on shelling out for a DD. I ended up cheaping out and got a Sport 2. Boy, am I ever glad I saved my money. I ended up with a wonderful 55" TV for the difference in cost.

Before we get ahead of ourselves I should probably say that I have yet to really check to see if there is something wrong with the crown or something. I'm going to soak it all in copper cleaner and pull off the flash hider at one point. Between the 2, I would still choose a S&W.

I was just thinking of this thread, and someone bumped it!! :)

The Norinco barrel has officially outlived the S&W barrels. Laugh2

Flinch related.

I own both the m&p sport 2 as well as the norc. Very much prefer the M&P over the norc. I'd say contact swamp donkey (Martin) who is located west of Edmonton. Bought my M&P from him for $600 and am very happy with it

Bumping this thread.

Checked every retailer for a specific Boxing Day deal on a M&P Sport II without much luck.

If anyone knows who has them on sale in the coming few months (preferably GTA/ON) please post in this thread.

Looking for it to be at that $599-$620 price point before I go in on one

My question again in such thread, is SW M&P has cold hammer forged chrome lined barrel? Coz Norinco has it.cheers

My question again in such thread, may a Norinco CQA be taken into the USA on a Form 6NIA?

Cos, if your mobility matters, a S&W M&P15 Sport has it all over the Norinco.cheers
