S&W M&P 15 Sport II or Norinco CQA

Another thing to consider is if you want to take the gun into the US for competitive shooting, they do not allow Norincos. Also, you need a minimum 16" barrel for US.

I have had Norinco, DPMS, Ruger and now PSA. I like the PSA best.

The Norc has a Gov profile barrel, the M&P has a heavier profile. The Norc is a 14.5 the M&P is a 16. They do feel different. You won't kill either one, if you're an average shooter, BUT, if you don't think fixing your own gun if something goes wrong is a reasonable solution to the problem, the Smith has a real warranty.

Is the M&P heavier all the way? or is it the lack of recoil lug in front of the FSB that makes it look heavy? Just curious. Would be nice to see a side by side if anyone owns both

*WARNING- the following is my opinion*

The benefit of a chrome lined barrel depends on how you plan on using the rifle. If you plan shooting a very large amount of ammunition at a high rate of speed, a chrome lined barrel is the way to go as it will hold up to this kind of usage much better.

If you are going to shoot an average number of rounds and want better accuracy a non lined barrel will suit you better. A chrome lined barrel is not as accurate as a non-chrome lined barrel because you cannot control the thickness of the chrome lining accurately enough to achieve the same tolerances of a non-chrome lined barrel. Some folks will tell you this is not true, but there is a reason that the bench rest boys don't use chrome lined barrels. And its not because they don't want their barrels to last.

As far as S&W vs. Norc - I found the S&W has better fit and finish by far. No tooling marks like you find on the Norcs. After looking at both I chose the S&W. It just seemed to be a better built rifle for the money. And I will not be shooting the number of rounds that will wear the barrel out quickly.

I still prefer Norinco. A true copy of M4A1 without select fire mode. It is made on same factory with same materials which are used to produce select fire military rifles.

I have had both. Norinco is just as good as mp spprt 2. Big difference is that the norinco feels and looks cheap. Finish is horrible.. u can buy used mp2 for $600 on ee like i did

Both my S&W have about 5000 rounds each with no apparent drop off in accuracy. I also have 2 Norincos, one has a pencil barrel and has 15 000 rounds through it, it's actually still reasonably accurate for that round count, but neither of the Norincos were as accurate as the S&W's. I like shooting the S&W better, they feel a bit better to me and is generally nicer, but they both work well.

I was just thinking of this thread, and someone bumped it!! :)

The Norinco barrel has officially outlived the S&W barrels. Laugh2
