nicest .22 lever action rifle...

I would have to say the henrys plastic guts slide pretty slick, and cast frames will not rust! But my Marlin 39A is sixty years old and still works just like new!

Do you think a cast reciever and plastic inerards will still last this long?

And can your grandchild own it and still pass it on to his GrandChild?

Thats what is so great about the Model 39 It will last forever!

Just like the Marlin Mod 410 ,it's a keeper! Your Grandchildren will own it!

Henry will have to go back to square one,and start producing real quality rifles again to compete with Marlin!

The problem is that neither company will ever make rifles like they use to because the price will prohibit it!

Get what you can ,cause the good one's are almost gone!

There are no plastic inyards in the action of the Henry.

I owned a BL-22 and it was a good rifle but delicate. It has a short lever throw and my dumb-ass younger brother, "short stroked" it one day. A bullet came up but somehow, due to the action not being worked fully, the bullet was not lined up with the barrel. So when he closed the action, the bullet didn't feed straight in and a guide in the action got bent. With the bent piece in there the action would not close and lock properly, so the gun was never any good after that and I had to get rid of it.

Today I have the Marlin 39A. It is the longest continuously produced firearm in N.A. It has a much better heft to it, then the Browning; it feels like a big game rifle, not a .22lr.
As far as the action goes it is certainly as good as the BL-22.

I do not think there is any difference in the accuracy, but I made my choice between the two; the Marlin 39A.

Why would the marlin Marlin 39A need a 24" barrel?

20" would be ideal.

To give it more weight out front for improved off-hand shooting. As mentioned it feels and shoots like a "real" rifle not like most .22s which are built to a smaller scale.

To give an idea of "scale". Marlin Golden39A in the front, Marlin 1895SS-45-70 in the rear.

I really like the BL-22...have one that use to be my dad's and it has been is use for probably 30 yrs never a problem. Little one the rough side right now but just had the stock refinished and the gun will be getting reblued shortly.

I had a BL-22, and it was a great gun. However, I sold it once I got a 94/22. Overall quality is about the same between them, but to me at least the Winnie feels like a rifle should, while the BL-22 feels more like a toy.

In fact, the only plastic part on the golden boy is the barrel band, and for an extra $16, Henry will sell you a brass one to match the brass receiver...

What ain't plastic is cast! SAMO SAMO! And think about re-sale or about they don't make them anymore!

Bob!:(

csmith99 was that 9422 brand new or is it a used model? The 9422 is a fine rifle, as good as the BL-22 or the M-39A. That looks like a nice rifle. I'm guessing it was not cheap!

I didn't consider the 9422 since they are not so easy to find. Are they still being manufactured? A buddy had one years ago in .22 Mag. It was a good rifle.

Also I left out the Henry, since I don't know enough about them to form an opinion.

I bought it brand new back in March. Blew almost my whole tax return on it! Not cheap at all as it's a Commerative Edition. But well worth it as a showpiece in my safe.
