onCrack:I would have to say the henrys plastic guts slide pretty slick, and cast frames will not rust! But my Marlin 39A is sixty years old and still works just like new!
Do you think a cast reciever and plastic inerards will still last this long?
And can your grandchild own it and still pass it on to his GrandChild?
Thats what is so great about the Model 39 It will last forever!
Just like the Marlin Mod 410 ,it's a keeper! Your Grandchildren will own it!
Henry will have to go back to square one,and start producing real quality rifles again to compete with Marlin!
The problem is that neither company will ever make rifles like they use to because the price will prohibit it!
Get what you can ,cause the good one's are almost gone!
BoonCrack:
Why would the marlin Marlin 39A need a 24" barrel?
20" would be ideal.
Thanks for the input Demonical. I was not aware of the short stroke issue. Makes sense. Thanks.
There are no plastic inyards in the action of the Henry.
Harder but not quite impossible. My vote also goes to the 9422, although getting harder to find.![]()

In fact, the only plastic part on the golden boy is the barrel band, and for an extra $16, Henry will sell you a brass one to match the brass receiver...
I had a BL-22, and it was a great gun. However, I sold it once I got a 94/22. Overall quality is about the same between them, but to me at least the Winnie feels like a rifle should, while the BL-22 feels more like a toy.
I bought it brand new back in March. Blew almost my whole tax return on it! Not cheap at all as it's a Commerative Edition. But well worth it as a showpiece in my safe.csmith99 was that 9422 brand new or is it a used model? The 9422 is a fine rifle, as good as the BL-22 or the M-39A. That looks like a nice rifle. I'm guessing it was not cheap!
