I have the L9A1. Very comfortable, excellent ergonomics, extremely accurate, but I’ve been plagued with extractor issues. They had a huge batch of faulty extractors that were incorrectly heat treated. They’d chip apart in a few hundred rounds. Free replacements are available to Americans, but they won’t ship them to Canada. I’m awaiting delivery of my third extractor, and hopefully it lasts. They also don’t all come with the trapezoid sights. Mine didn’t come with them. I’ve shot ones with the trapezoid sights, and they are awesome! Magazines are expensive, and holsters are hard to find. Solely Canadian made me a holster though and it’s perfect.
Hey Guys.
I always felt this line of pistols is forgotten and vastly underrated. Or completely ignored.
Any thoughts or feedback with experience preferably.
Cheers.

Hmm. You know anyone that is bringing them in.
I should add that my L9A1 was at the $500 price point. It was a really good sale. At the current $700 ish price point I would opt for a Walther ppq M2 or M1 Navy over the Styr. I’ve bought PPQ pistols at the $700 price point. Right now the CZ P10C is on sale at $540. At the $500 range the Styr was a great choice only beaten by the recent CZ P10C sale.
The Glock gen 5 or 19X are also very good pistols but at the $800 price point. The only negative with my G19x is that the Shield version comes with stock Glock sights. I really don’t like them. The regular $805 G19x comes with night sights. I’m assuming those sights don’t suck hard like the standard Glock sight.
The best value is often changing depending on sales and popularity. The Styr gets a thumbs up. However watch out with old ones due to brutal reliability problems and find one on a really good sale. At the $780 range there are a lot of other options that I would buy before the Styr. Unfortunately the OP’s question isn’t easy to answer due to changing prices, current reliability vs previous train wreck reliability and other competitive options.
Yeah I like the Glock 19x option and The Walther PPQ as well. But I like the Steyr M9A1 version but with the OD color. I was looking at iron guns. Because Ellwood Epps only has the Steyr L9-A1 (NIGHT SIGHTS)version. Anyways all have too see. M9 A1 comes in at 4 inch barrel so it might have be L9. How does your L9 handle a light(Surefire)x300 model or whatever ?
I had m9a1 back in 2006 and can't say enough bad things about it. Hands down the worst modern semi auto centerfire ive had.
You can get the M9A1 with a threaded barrel from irunguns putting you into the legal barrel range.
