After hours upon hours of research, and years (ok... like 3 months?) of waiting for my PAL/R-PAL to be approved I finally decided to pull the trigger on my first rifle.

Just about everywhere I looked people suggested starting with a .22 to learn proper shooting technique, and no other rifle was as universally loved as the Henry lever actions. I choose the Henry Frontier rocking an octagon barrel just in time to catch it on sale from Cabelas online, I called the local store but they only had a floor model to offer.

She feels solid, hefty even, considering the size. Walnut furniture is in great shape, looks nice even if it's not particularly flashy. The action is smoother then hot butter on a babes bottom.

Tragedy strikes! Looks like the powder coat receiver got banged up or possibly it's the dreaded "orange peel" effect I've seen mentioned. I emailed Henry customer support yesterday but haven't yet received a response.
