After hours upon hours of research, and years (ok... like 3 months?) of waiting for my PAL/R-PAL to be approved I finally decided to pull the trigger on my first rifle.

Just about everywhere I looked people suggested starting with a .22 to learn proper shooting technique, and no other rifle was as universally loved as the Henry lever actions. I choose the Henry Frontier rocking an octagon barrel just in time to catch it on sale from Cabelas online, I called the local store but they only had a floor model to offer.

Looks like it had a rough journey...

She feels solid, hefty even, considering the size. Walnut furniture is in great shape, looks nice even if it's not particularly flashy. The action is smoother then hot butter on a babes bottom.

Tragedy strikes! Looks like the powder coat receiver got banged up or possibly it's the dreaded "orange peel" effect I've seen mentioned. I emailed Henry customer support yesterday but haven't yet received a response.

Congrats on your first firearm! I guarantee it is the first of many.

Heard a lot of good things about the henry. Their customer service is supposed to be top-notch, so hopefully they will deal with your issue soon.

Congrats!
Although I'm sorry to hear about the receiver. That's got to be disappointing on your first purchase.
Pics didn't post, but if its that bad you may want to talk to Cabela's about an exchange right away. They are usually very good if your not satisfied.

Congrats and welcome to the wonderful world of firearms. I don't have a Henry (yet), but I have heard nothing but good things about their rifles and their customer service so they should have you fixed up in no time.

Just a warning. Firearms are like potato chips, you can't have just one. Or two, or three, or.................

All I see in your thread starter (where photos should be) is this; **Image and video linking functions will be enabled after you have contributed more to the forum** I know the rifle though, so congrats! "New Gun Day" is always the best day of the year. Yes, even better than Christmas! :)

Lmao, I can see that already. My housemates and I got our PALs together, between us there's already 8 guns in the safe after less then 4-5 months.

Sounds like allot of trust in that house! lol Great that you're all into it, and perhaps an opportunity to go to the range with your buddies and share/try others. I think you need a whole lot more gun temptation in your life. lol

Congrats again.

Congratulations on purchasing your first (of what's likely to be several) firearm.

OP....good choice on the Frontier model! I bought the same one as my first Henry. I just picked up another Henry (H001L) and have some experience with my Buddy's Golden Boy.
All the Henry's I've handle have actions slicker than seagull snot. Henry's Customer Service is second to none......
