The 45-70 club, are you in?

What took ye so long OP? ;)

I still wouldn't have one, save for the fact I got a deal I couldn't pass up yesterday... Nothing against the 45-70, the cartridge intrigues me... But I already have my Marlin 336 in 35Rem and I picked up a Marlin 336SS in 30-30 for my daughter should she ever express interest in hunting... So I thought I had the levers covered? Apparently not, chuckle! 45-70 in the house!

This is a new model? The barrel is correctly indexed (sights are not canted)?

Yes, the original owner bought it last year at Cabelas, fired 20 rounds & sold it to me. Seems the sights are on there correctly etc.

Now I just need the BearTooth Mercantile cross bolt safety delete, a base, rings & a scope... Does it ever end? LOL

Cheers
Jay

In since ‘03. Marlin 1895G fitted with Skinner sights, my favourite in the safe, killed quite a few deer with it. Gave up on the hot loads long ago. Wish I could get the pics working on here.

Also have a Uberti 1885Highwall 45/70 that I need to fart around with more.

Been watching lots of the “Sagebrush Longshots” on the YouTube and think I might have to pick up a 1895 cowboy with the 26” barrel

A Marlin SS ported Guide gun.

Something about that stupid short-nosed rifle with the noisemaker always fascinated me. Not sure why.

I'm in the club...thrice.

Browning 1885
Remington Rolling Block
Shiloh 1874 Sharps

I used to have a 1895 CB but I absolutely hated it. So I sold it and nearly doubled my money.

I'm in with my Marlin 1895 CB. Bought it new, on-line, sight unseen, and lucked out. Excellent fit, finish, function and accuracy.

Wow....the unicorn stainless ported model! I’ve been looking for that one for years!

Been in this club for many years and had a nice collection of Marlins that’s been trimmed down to my two favourite 1895’s.

Great caliber and lots of fun to reload..

A Marlin SS ported Guide gun, Marlin cb octagon and a Sharps 45-120 that can take the occasional 45-70 short too.

Joined the club as a Early Christmas present to myself. Had a NECG peep and nothing to put it on so found a Ruger No 1-S unfired but that has changed:) Going to see some lead this summer!

Yup, it usually gets hunted quite a bit too. The areas I moose hunt are getting thicker and thicker with underbrush, and scoped rifles are at a disadvantage. So I opt for the easy handling, quick pointing, and fast action of my trusty 1895!

Just scored a new/ unfired TC Encore blued walnut in 45-70 yesterday. Still undecided though as to which route I'll take on it. Thinking of cutting the barrel back to 20" and using a fixed 2x Leup as this gun will only be used for dogging some moose hunts in thick bush so max shot for my would be around 100yds.

I've had one for a few years now but haven't actually hunted with it yet. Maybe this fall. It's an H&R single shot, blued synthetic with a Burris Fullfied 2-7x 32. Lots of fun and surprisingly mild recoil.
