The 45-70 club, are you in?

Thinking about joining again, I used to own a Ruger No.1 but like a dummy I sold it or traded it off. Got a buddy selling his Marlin 1895, 22" barrel, pistol grip, JM stamped. He has some peripherals with it too, Lee loader, some powder, primers, bullets, brass and some factory ammo. He says make an offer but I have no idea what its worth, any ideas gentlemen? It is in nice shape, a few very minor marks here or there, no dings or dents that break the finish on the wood, all original other than a weaver base he added, no scope or rings.

$700 to $850 is reasonable for the rifle, more for the extras. It would be nice to see some pictures..

Order placed for my Marlin Dark series 45-70 reviews are coming out and it sounds better in every way over the SBL which I miss every day lol.

My only question now, because we live in Canada and can’t own safety devices (silencer) what massive muzzle break in 11/16x24 would you put on this... you know just to make sure everyone knows when I’m out shooting!

Seriously though the vids on this are awesome and only downside is 5 load instead of 6 but for the 2” shorter barrel and 1lbs weight loss I’ll take it. Frankly if 5+1 rounds of 45-70 can’t save me I highly doubt 6+1 would have had a different outcome.

The great Squirl hunt of 2019 coming soon!

My 20" Katahdin stainless fluted Prohunter barrel that has a rear ghost ring sight abnd red fiber optic front sight post arrived a couple weeks ago my black plastic forend arrived from Nine35 yesterday.

I put it all together last night wow what a short thumper package this is going to make unfortunately for me my eyes aren't what they used to be for defense I can see the sights good enough but forany long range shooting I need a scope.

Last week I purchased a Leupold dual dovetail scope base and my buddy has a set of medium height Leupold extended scope rings once I pick up the rings I'll be installing either an older Vari X 111 or almost new VX3 1.5-5x scope.

I have hit a hitch though this 20" barreled Prohunter combo that can handle far higher pressure loads than my 22" barreled T/C Contender 45-70 is appr 1" shorter overall length I really don't need two 45-70 single shots that are almost identical so I'm now thinking of selling the 22" stainless Contender barrel.

Oh what to do keep it or sell it = its so rare and I bought it new from the T/C Custom Shop that I really don't want to part with it...

This picture is the Contender barrel.

edit to add picture of my Prohunter Katahdin setup in 45-70 I have it loaded now with 350gr WLNGC's - 350gr Swift A-Frames 460gr Cast Performance WLNGC's
