I would prefer it was 220.

You're tryina kill me....

149 would suffice for me

See above.

If you do the first 12 that will be alright with me :D

You're already good, 25 are boxed up with the final stamp of approval before we left work this evening. With I figure about that many or more sitting in queue for hand finishing.

I'm really excited to see this thread explode with pictures soon!

I thought 149 was a nice round number well below 220

Anyone else not concerned with the final weight?

Heck, I haven't got the slightest clue what my pile of parts will weigh in at.

#1 it's gotta work good
#2 it's gotta look good
#3 it's first production run so I can rub it in to the people who didn't take the plunge

Majority of my shooting will be done at the bench. Weight wasn’t even a consideration when building my parts list. I’m with ya.

After many revisions, this is my current parts list. I'm going for stability and reliability, but it's my first build so I'm definitely open to criticism...

ATRS MS FA Receiver Set
Faxon 20" Heavy Flame Fluted
JP Flash Hider - JPFH-556L
SLR Sentury 7 Clamp on adjustable Gas Block
MRA Black Nitrate Rifle Length Gas Tube
JP Enterprises FMOS BCG JPBC-2
MRA 15" Handguard
Radian Raptor LT
Strike Ind. Enhanced LPK -Fire
TriggerTech Adjustable Black
VLTOR A5 Stock Combo
Magpul MOE+ Grip

Cost: ~$3500
Weight: ~7lbs

This whole thread shows that (of those that posted their builds/intentions) an extremely slim portion of Sporters will actually get carried around and beat up by coureurs des bois, vast majority are Gucci builds that will live on a bench.

Not saying this is a good or bad thing.

Gucci parts don't mean they won't get used hard.
My nearly 6k$ modern Hunter got used in the bush lots, so why would this be any different?
I've got roughly 3k rounds through mine, and only a few hundred from a bench

Keep rubbing it in that you got the prototype upper, while my beautiful lower sits here without a top half... :p

Thanks for all the testing though!

My own sporter is going to be getting a bit of everything... Off the bench, guaranteed. Some dragging through the field, absolutely. And some rough range time, ie. 3gun even if it's just to practice with those who are looking to compete.

I think there's going to be a lot of sporters showing up in the Canadian 3 gun scene this year

Mine will be a 3G focused build, hope I can get at least one match in with it.....I hope, only seven more months! if all goes well.

Mines gunna be a truck/bush gun. If I can get it at 8 or 9 pounds I'll be more than happy. Not bad to pack 2-300 meters and call coyotes or blast gophers with

For me it will be paper, cans , bottles , water jugs , trees, non organic fruit and gluten. Maybe the odd gopher or squirrel. Oh and my favorite tannerite . Hard stance on gluten its an epidemic. But so delicious

Just be nice to plink around in the woods and not be at a range
