I've used them in my 257 Roberts, which is in a Rem700 action at velocities very close to mid range 25-06 velocities, on DEER. They will smash a shoulder but don't make it into the offside shoulder. This put the two White Tails I shot with them down. The first one was at 45 yards and moving but not fast, so I led him a bit to much and hit him on the point of his inside shoulder. He went down immediately and got right back up again. They can sure run hard on three legs. About a hundred yards he stopped to assess what had happened and presented me with a perfect broad side standing shot that was easy to make. The second bullet went through ribs on both sides, took out both lungs and shattered the arteries just under the spine. The first bullet retained about 20% of its weight but the rest was completely fragmented.
The second Deer was facing me head first and about 225 yards out. My rifle is sighted for 200 yard point of aim/impact. The bullet went through its throat, hit the spine right where the neck meets the back. There was a gaping 2inch exit hole right at the juncture of the neck/shoulder. The vertebrae was completely blown away. As with all such shots, the Deer dropped instantly and stayed down. One of the fragments, not sure if it was bone or bullet jacket cut one of the main arteries to the brain and there was blood all over it.
I won't be using those excellent/accurate bullets on anything larger than a coyote again. I,ve switched to to the Barne's TTSX monolithics.
