Browning vs Beretta

FAIR are an outstanding value and it is a shame they are not readily available from a decent and reliable dealer. I often hoped I would see them at Prophet River one day.

I bought a 686 last year and now I can see it doesn't fit me as good as I thought...think I'll try a Browning Citori 725 this year and then sell the worst fitting one. Experience cost money! :(

After you learn what to look for, you can tell very quickly (or at least get a good idea) whether or not you'll be able to shoot a particular gun well within less than a minute of picking it up.

As a person that makes a living in sales and marketing it pains me to know that somewhere in Italy there is a manager pulling his/her hair out wondering what they are doing wrong. I guess it is for the best as I would own the whole series of Iside alone if not for this.

Back to the Beretta/Browning; I like them both and own both but became particularly attached to a Silver Pigeon I picked up used. It was a custom order in to the USA I think as it had US stamps and was choked Imp Cyl under Imp Mod which I have never seen before. An awesome combination with very nice walnut and scroll work. Unfortunately a young fellow I mentor fell hard for the gun so I let him have it thinking it could be replaced. I was wrong.

I watched the stores and checked on line but as already stated the wood on the SP 1 is beyond boring. Surely they have reasonable access to Turkish Walnut like the other manufacturers. Some of the Browning offerings in the same price range are stunning and even the cheap Turkish guns often have nicer wood.

I ended up getting a 686 Onyx Pro off the EE that after a little work is a pleasure to carry and admire. I know looks are not everything but when a person gets over that $2500 mark they should count for something. The wood on my FAIR shotguns blow away anything I have seen in the same price range from either manufacturers.

Made to fit FAIR shotgun...

You really do get what you paid for.

Unless you've seen first hand problems with FAIR then I wouldn't be so quick to condemn them.
The problems I encountered were the fault of the dealer and not anything else, as I mentioned I'm very happy with the gun and the problems were with barrel length on both barrel sets (its a combo) which was an ordering issue. I think FAIR makes a good product, with mine the fit and finish of wood and metal is very well done and the wood is nice, so are the other ones I've looked at in fact, I would rate their bluing very high! I have around 8k rounds through mine with no problems, both barrel sets are sub gauge so it doesn't see heavy use but it's as tight as it was the day it was new and I'll be shooting it for a long time to come.

I also don’t like dodge trucks or savage rifles and the Toronto Maple Leafs maybe you do?

If your happy really it’s all that matters.

Wouldn’t it be sort of silly to expect cooper quality from a savage?

It's not about the quality of the shotgun, it's the fact that the dealer charges extra for made to order stock dimensions, then when the shotgun arrives with incorrect dimensions, he does nothing to rectify the situation. I didn't keep my FAIR long, but it was more because every time I shot it, I was reminded of the shyster that sold it to me.

Yes and you get what you pay for.

All I'm saying is that the product wasn't the problem and if you have no first hand experience then maybe you should refrain from commenting.

I'm happy with my FAIR gun but I'm also happy with my Beretta's, Perazzi's and AYA's, I don't however, like Dodge trucks!

The product is the problem!

For some Perazzi and some berettas no charge for custom stocks but you get what you pay for.

It's not whether the factory is supplying the correct dimensions or not, the build sheets that came with our guns had the correct dimensions for then guns we received, the Shyster collected the balance , and shipped the guns knowing full well that the build sheets didn't match the order sheets. It wouldn't matter what we ordered, all that he cared about was getting our money, regardless of whether we received what we paid for or not.
