ATT's what you need to know

Is there an updated version for all of this?
I'm in SK and would like to purchase my first handgun soon, new from a shop.
I'm still unsure of range memberships and everything.
I'm not too worried about having to transfer the gun from home to a range yet but being able to pick it up from the post office.

If you have renewed your RPAL since c-42 or once your transfer is approved you will have the new ATT conditions attached to your license

Thanks Shawn. I got my PAL/RPAL in May 2016 so it looks like I'm good. I seemed to remember something about after making your first purchase the paperwork gets sent to you.

If you have it, when you got your RPAL it would be on your conditions sheet

Nothing written on my conditions sheet. Just says special conditons and then blank. I probably should have got my range membership early and sent it in. Any idea how long the turnover is from when you send that info in?

This is what I am sending in my email from info gathered in this thread.
I understand multi province licences are not or are tough to get but I figured I would try.
Are there any other conditions I should ask for?

Hello and good day.
I have attached a copy in .jpg format with my personal information, firearms lic. number and range membership scans to acquire my LATT.

I travel to Alberta to see friends and would love to be able to go to a range with them and use my own firearms. I would appreciate if any of the conditions would apply to Western Canada as a whole but more importantly SK and AB. Thank you.
I would like these conditions applied and please feel free to contact me with any questions.

  1. I would like to be able to transport my registered firearms to all approved ranges, licensed gunsmiths and dealers throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba if possible.
  2. I would like it for 5 years, or until the expiry date of my PAL/RPAL.
  3. I would like it good 24/7 and good for all Border Crossing into the USA with the proper paperwork.

Regards

In case this helps anyone these are the conditions I received from the SK CFO.
I had to ask for them to be emailed to me as most know they are electronically attached to your PAL/RPAL.
I also asked about multiple province conditions and was shot down.
I was told there are no more "NEW" applications that get approved for multi province travelling.
If I call and tell them I am going to so and so gun club in Edmonton then I need to send them a copy of an invite to the club with the date I will be attending. They will then issue the proper condition for that one time only.

King Pin; thanks for posting that list
I never got any breakdown with what those "special conditions" meant with mine either.. anyway:

#5 sort-of sticks out, in a good way, by my interpretation anyway. Since some states allow Handgun hunting, I've always been curious whether a person could make arrangements to transport (our own) down and go for say Cougars even. No doubt there'd be paperwork with the Alcohol tobaccao & explosives bureau to fill out, likey similar to taking rifles south for a hunt(?) but until seeing #5 in your post pertaining to the Special Conditions and what they actually are, I never thought there was a hope in h3ll for transporting restricteds to a port of exit... but maybe there is.. and maybe the shackles aren't as restricting as they're portrayed (I'm personally encouraged by that, I'd love to travel to do a hunt with mine if I can!!)

In reality, it be great if we had more permitted use for our restricteds than just range-time (here).. I think a Cougar hunt in the mountains with a Ruger would be fantastic ...definitely is a dream of-mine to someday see a handgun hunt allowed, even be-it by special permits & minimum caliber or whatever; but permitted in some form none-the-less.

I also never realized you could deliver restricteds to a Smith without additional paper-trailing. That saves some pissing around in the case for repairs & stuff.

In Lloydminster you need a permit to literally cross the street I asked if I could add the new range on the Alberta side was told if I apply for at least 3 ATT's they would consider adding the location to my conditions. I did get a new RPAL in the mail to replace the one I got a year ago the special conditions portion is filled in not blank.

I purchased my first handgun. I just received it in the mail today. My cousin is saying I will get a new licence in the mail that will have the att attached to it under the conditions, but when I look up what to do on the RCMP website it appears like I have to call them I order to get an att? I can’t seem to figure out what I really need to do. There seems to be a lot of old outdated info all over the internet.
I’m located in Alberta if that makes much difference.

Thanks in advance

You should receive a new one in the mail. How long it will take is anyone's guess.

It will say on the conditions paper. I live in BC and my conditions say that I can take it to a gunsmith without an additional ATT. It's built into the license.

i recently got my ATT membership at a range in BC. So if im reading this correctly I still need to submit a form before purchasing a handgun? Kinda new to this.

I need a little help also. Bought my first handgun last week. It arrived on Monday, the next day a new RPAL with special conditions arrived. I am at this moment not a member at a range. The conditions at the bottom of the page of my new RPAL says I can transport it to a range within my province, Alberta.

Do I still need to apply for another ATT and do I need to provide evidence of membership to anyone? I can shoot at a local range for a daily fee. I also can buy an associate membership.

If someone could point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Dan
