Maccabee

My memory is not great but if I remember right ATRS said they wouldn't offer a stripped receiver set. Liability issues.
Then the MDI SLR was announced.
Suddenly the MS idea was floated.
Do we have MDI to thank for prompting ATRS to bring out the MS?

This is how I remember it. .

They said they could not sell stripped sets of the MV or MH due to the use of property parts needed to complete a build. Also due to the way the trigger is installed it would be a VERY bad idea to let 99.999% of people do it themselves. Yes, the liability issue was legitimate.

The MS receiver sets were in the works before the SLR was announced. MDI just beat them out of the gate.

Key word "prompting". I believe MDI's release did in fact "prompt" ATRS to release the MS possibly sooner than planned BUT it's not like we would have never seen the MS if it weren't for MDI.

^^^ see answers in bold.

We can bicker over who did what until we're blue in the face. Let's just be happy that we have a couple of manufactures who took some risks to provide us with products that most of us thought we'd never see.

And as Sqr implied, competition is a good thing.

Take your pick and enjoy.

Your memory is ok just selective.
ATRS said and to this day maintains they will not/cannot sell stripped uppers and lower for their Modern Hunter and Modern Varmint due to the number of proprietary parts, which in itself makes sense. What good is a stripped reciever if you can't get the proprietary parts such as charge assembly, bolt release upper to lower capture system etc.?

The WHOLE point of the Modern Sporter is to do away with ALL proprietary parts, thereby enabling to not have insurance rules mess with sales.
The fact is ATRS had the Sporter under development and testing BEFORE Macabee even existed. The Sporter was in the works while they were still awaiting FRT status for their Varminter.

IIRC it was me that made it public that they had something in the works. With the beans spilled they made it public knowledge. Talking with Rick he wanted to have product on the shelf first rather than pre-orders so I blew that for him. (Sorry Dude) I seriously doubt he ever took it that Wyatt was any sort of threat to his business and now that we have both, seems he was right.

People I need some help here
I can across a Maccabee ar...non restricted....upper and lower ......I’d like to know if these are junk or any good ....pros....cons...
I got suckered not once but twice ...before .....so some help is appreciated
Help as in .....any problems with upper and lower for building ..
I seen some posts about holes for the role pins ......play between upper and lower........bolt charging handle..missing a hole for the claw or hook to latch on .....
Any thoughts people or help is great appreciated
It’s either this or a Alberta tactical non restricted build

First off it's not an AR. Many people are making that mistake. It uses some AR parts but it doesn't have AR specs or tolerances. Keep that in mind. Mine is number 199. It went together fine and runs perfectly.

I bought my Mac from the EE on here. It’s low 100 serial number. The steel mags don’t fit real well. Pretty tight. But the polymer mags fit very nice and run great. I cannot believe how accurate this rifle is. Shoots 3/4moa with everything I’ve put in it. I’m running 60gr v max right now for coyotes. I didn’t even do load development yet. Just loaded and it’s scary accurate. Some people are saying the finish and coatings are poor. I think it’s very nice. Everything about the rifle is perfect to me. Ya the mag well should have been bigger. But its fine with polymers.

This is why I bought it and love it!

Outstanding yote and good write up.

Would be nice if these companies could get the product on there shelf’s.......not wait 3 to 7 months for them to be made ....just ridiculous.....ya I know it’s all about the tooling and machinery but ...one wonders....why not hire more people why not get more machines .....
I would really like to buy one of these from either companies.....but really the wait is a real pain
And the wait continues.....

Because with a very limited clientele the costs would be ridiculously prohibiting. Hell most are complaining about a $1000 price tag can you imagine if we were asked to pay $2k+?

With just a mere 1 MILLION dollars of investment we could increase our production by 25%.
If you had ordered the receiver set last year when we introduced them you could most likely be shooting now.
Our hope is at some point to have sets on the shelf, but I don't see this happening soon.

That's pretty rough.
