Just to stir the pot a bit...;)
I'm tempted to try one of the (claimed) MOA Ruger Ranch rifles in .223.
Just wondering how it would stack up against an Armalite AR180B in terms of accuracy....
Both have equally crappy triggers, costs seem to be comparable.
Advantage would seem to go the the AR as one can use 10 rounders, and there are a few accessories (rails, folding stock adapters, etc.)
I have had several Mini-14's in the past, and have always blown them out after a relatively short time because of the mediocre accuracy.
I'm thinking along the lines of a non-restricted, cheap (relatively) plinker...
Help me with my choice!
(Or should I just forget the whole thing and get a chrome bore VZ-58L?)

Both are POS -special in thier own way. If you want accuracy why not get a Model700 in .223.

I would rather have a cheap SKS as a plinker..

The new Ruger is Fugly.

Yeah...the Ruger is one of the ugliest rifles out there. Why even consider it?
I have also heard that the new Ruger isn't actually as accurate as they claim...

No contest. The 180b is way cooler looking, and has more upgradeable parts. The Mini-14 also has much less resale value. Nobody wants them.
Everyone wants a 180b.

It's like asking if you should buy a Toyota or a GM. It's a no brainer. ;)

I think your wrong on the resale...Mini14s are very easy to sell... the 180B isnt as well known...if it was restricted i bet nobody would buy it...

..even a nice High Power?

Teclaydon,
Saw this pic in another thread- Clyde Armory SCAR-CQB...yes?
Anybody a licensed dealer for them up here? If so, I'd be all over a Mini 14.
The barrel stabilizer is an interesting add….any details?
