What’s your Best rifle with Iron sights and scope ?

^^ I was just thinking, yeah the M14 platform, with a Sadlock mount, or CASM 2 mount, you dont have to remove the scope, or a Arms 18 with quick release mounts,

My experience has been that milsurps are awful heavy and clumsy for the bang you get out of them. For the range, they're fine. And again, you know what they say about opinions and recti.

X2 ..... I owned one those Norc 305s. It lasted exactly one visit to the range and then got tripped ASAP.

The squeezers think they look cool, but in reality they suck as a sporting rifle because they are a battle rifle, not a sporting rifle.

What a M305/ m14 kitted up weight ?

11 1/4 lbs, add i n scope, mount, sling and mag, and you're a little over 13. My Marlin 95 weighs 6.1 lbs. plus sling and ammo. There are plenty of 308's and even 300 Mags that weigh in at less than 7 lbs. My son has a Tikka Battue in 300 WM which shoots like a dream, and is light as a feather. But then, those are just my own druthers.

12-13 lbs. wowza. I lugged around a big heavy barrel savage all season that weighed 9 1/2 pounds kit up and I thought that was heavy
holy $hit 12lbs though that’s bonkers

I never considered that. Excellent point !

This was explained to me by a guide who found his client hanging from a tree by his safety belt. He had knocked himself unconscious and fell off the tree stand.

It was a tall tree and a fall would have been very dangerous. That is why it had a safety belt.

The back story is that the guide had warned his client that the see thru mount was dangerous, but the client's son (also on the hunt) poo-pooed the warning.

Another one of those instances where I have learned from the experience of others. I once got kissed by a 375H&H (it doubled) and can see how it could knock someone out of a tree.

QD rings for me.

Flip 2 levers and the irons are ready for use.

I use one of these on my AR15; one piece, goes off and on the pic-rail without losing zero. I am very happy with it. About $30.00 on Amazon; Note, I had to add a 1/2" riser as this mount is nice an low; too low for the AR:

Tikka battue in 308, masi quick release mount for the leupold 2-7, atlasworx bottom metal for aics mags.
7lbs and the masi is tikka dedicated, returns to 0 within 1 moa. The irons on these rifles are high viz and have a very fast acquisition speed. It was built for the bush. I run Barnes ttsx in 130/150 for deer and moose respectively.

My custom built hunting rifle is equipped with express sights and a 1-4x scope in Zeiss detachable mounts .
the scope normally stays off unless I need it , but the last few years I have left it on.
the open express sights are accurate at 200 yards .
the scope is used for animals past about 225 yards or so,
never been an issue using one or the other .
i have Owned O/U rifle with detachable scopes as well and have a friend with a 8mm MS with claw mounts - that rifle also shoots well with irons or scope .

Nice 602 , I've had a few . One in particular I never should have sold . It was in 375 H&H and had the very cool pop up rear receiver sight . I can't tell if it's on your rifle............ not that it matters , it's a very nice rig .

I have an old Redfield flip up on my .366 Wagner. Works great with the warne QD rings. The rings themselves are a bit of pain with the vertical split. I also don’t like how obtrusive the levers are. I think I’ll put a set of old weavers on when I change the scope to a 2.5-8x36
