My “New” Remington Custom Shop Titanium 700 308win

Very nice rifle. To most fellas it would seem extravagantly expensive. But if you compare it to buying some other piece of sporting equipment like a atv, boat and motor etc. that you can easily spend that kind of money on and they wear out and depreciate a lot faster than that rifle which will last you a life time and another one after that. Why not you only live once. Enjoy your new purchase, and I hope we don't ever see it on the EE.

Primary animals are Whitetail and Moose. Yardage can vary from bush shots at 20yards to 300yards in a chopping. Out to 500yards in NFLD when moose hunting and some 800yard bench rest shooting.

Awesome build. Congrats!

With what you want to do with the rig, and what you've already spent on the bare rifle... Why not go all the way, and get a Tangent H-series? You'd never be wondering if you could've done better... ;)

Well, now I know that a rifle from from them will be on the wishlist fora while longer! LOL

Would love to hear what scope you put on it and how it is performing for you.
Have fun!

Beautiful rifle, well done... I believe twer it me, I would build 1.5 pounds heavier and 6 grand lighter...

The scope that tickles my fancy for size, weight and features is a Leupold VX-6 HD 2-12x42mm Illuminated T-MOA
16.8 oz

I have a Nightforce NXS Compact 2.5-10x42 Zero Top Illuminated MOAR on another rifle that I like.
20.5 oz

I know neither of these would be considered ultralights.
If I stole the NXS off my other gun. Compared to the Leupold, is 3.7oz any significance?

You just spent an extra $6000 to drop 1.5 pounds... that's $250/ounce. I would say it is bad economy to plop a large, heavy scope on the rifle... JMO.

On the other hand... You have put together such a light rifle, that even with a slightly heavier scope like the NF Compact, you'll still be lighter than most any rig out there. And have a more durable, capable setup. If you're going to chicken out and not pony up for TT... I'd go NF. ;)

I don’t know why you’d go with anything that isn’t the lightest in class for its magnification. Your build prioritizes weight savings above all else, why ruin that with a big scope? Beautiful rifle btw, very functional and well thought out

TT are in a weight class of their own lol , heavy 28-37 oz

Haha. True enough.

Honestly, when I saw your rifle and your uses for it, I thought, "NF Compact". Either that or the LRHS are two of the best cross-over scopes going, IMO.

If you didn't have the "800 yard targets" in there, I'd second chuck on the FXII 6x36 LRD.

Question: With a non locking bolt and that big bolt handle sticking out, how much of a concern is knocking the bolt open while handling/carrying or strapping to your pack? I like locking bolts for just this reason and perhaps my concerns are unfounded,

Hard to say. No experience yet in that department. First gun I built with a larger knob. With a 2 lug system like the 700, there is a higher anount of bolt lift compared to a 3 lug like a Sako or Browning.

Im trying a 2 stage trigger on this gun too. Thats new for me. I like the concept but if I dislike it, I have a Timney 520CE single stage sitting here that ill swap out.

I've carried various R700's over the last 20 years, some with large knobs, some with factory knobs. I can't say I've ever knocked one open, even while carrying it through dense brush while pushing out deer.
