After wanting a 9.3x62 for a few years, I finally have one from Tradex ... Fn M98 commercial. Pretty darned pleased with it so far, though I've not fired a shot through it yet, and it is currently disassembled and in the midst of getting a thorough detailing and cosmetic tune up. Actually the rifle is a dead ringer for the 8x57 "648" Baribal posted a photo of at the very begining of this sub-forum, some 204 or so pages back.
Initial plans were to top it with a Burris E1 2-7x35 ( because I happen to have one), using Warne Maxima bases (902/830). It is already drilled and tapped for Weaver bases (45/46), which I think are the same spacing. I'm looking at the Warne "weaver style" quick release rings. That being said, I can see two possible issues.
First, the Burris scope tube looks like it just may be too tight a fit between the occular and objective bells. Second, I'm wondering if any scope sitting in the low Warne rings will accomodate the FN's "low swing" safety the right side of the bolt.
I'm hoping that Baribal, or someone else with personal experience scoping an FN Mauser can chime in here with thoughts and/or a bit of advice. I do have a longer tubed 3-9x40 Bushnell Legend I could start with on the rifle if need be.
