Husqvarna Sporting Rifles #### - ALL MODELS!!!

HVA discussed in this thread are commercial models.

You will have to pardon my ignorance, I am new to this. So these guns were manufactured, modified in some cases and sat in a distribution warehouse until being imported into Canada en masse or were they gathered together in some other way to be resold? I find this to be very interesting.

Baribal has a post about the origin of these a few posts up... basically these were some old Swede guys hunting rifles for decades, some hunted and bubbad up, some sat in safes untouched. you can only own a set number of rifles (6 I think he said) there so when you want a new one, you have to sell an old one. Since everyone else is in the same boat, there are gunshops full of these great old guns with nowhere to go. I imagine they get auctioned off a few times a year to global bidders, not sure how Tradex gets their lots from there to be honest.

That's why some rifles are NEW, or very little used. Most are exchanges when a new rifle was purchased. There are fewer and fewer remaining, though.

Picked this up off Trade Ex several years ago, have since mounted a 3x12 scope, very accurate.

Pretty amazing these are making their way to us.

In my experience, Yes! Lots of them have issues (commercials and milsurps) with cracked stocks, drilling & tapping, barrels, sights, bolts, stocks, pitting, feeding, extraction... = crap shoot!

Do you really believe them Northern Europeans will send the cream of their rifles here? Bahhhwaahwa. Hahahah.

If it shoots a deer dead and has some character I won't complain.

Actually, YES THEY DO SEND US THE CREAM OF THEIR RIFLES..... one needs to be fast to catch them when they show up... of course, they are not 150.00 $ rifles...

GMJ,
Your rifle was a M/38 (if it get the dated HVA front receiver) military rile which had it's stock modified.

Well, while I agree these are interesting firearms, like I said several times they are quite OT on this thread as per they have little to do with HVA...
They are "utilitarian" arms, just like to Lee Enfield and Enfield PH and very few really collect it. They were all made from surplus M/96 and M/94, with the military stock reworked and on some models replaced. Same goes for the barrels, which were, most of the times, just reworked military ones and on the "higher grades", replaced by new commercial ones...
I do have several Vapen Depôten catalogs and they are interesting things, though.

Hey ! Rob, you didn't need to delete your posts, I just didn't want to elaborate too much on the VP thing.

New member here. Wanted to thank Baribal and everyone that has shared their Husqvarnas. I just acquired this Husqvarna thought I would share it here. I believe it is a 3100 crown grade 308 caliber made in 1959 serial number 2270XXA. Has an aluminum bottom metal, a weaver K6-60 on it with leupold one piece scope mount, lyman’s fold down rear sight with ramped front sight (please correct me if I am wrong). Have not fired it yet but everything looks alright except for 2 things, behind the tang is missing some wood but does not appear to be a crack, and the bottom of the recoil lug in the wood I can’t tell if it is a crack or not and not sure if its a problem, anyone have any thoughts? Other than that, love this Husqvarna with its bluing and wood. Keep this thread going! (Not sure if the image links are working below).

Also curious, anyone with an aluminum trigger guard/floor plate try removing the paint and using Birchwood Casey's aluminum black to refinish it? I saw posts of the ceramic coating/ paints but looking for something that is more integral to the metal instead of another layer.
