The last milsurp bonanza?

"I have several new condition SKS. Bought them as a curiosity. I will give them to my boys eventually as I have never shot them. I doubt they will ever be worth double what I paid let alone the prices a premium Enfield or Garand can bring. "

An line auction that just finished yesterday had a couple of Tula SKS's going for about $350. Cabela's used to sell them for less than $200 a couple of years ago. Chinese ones went for $450 and up.

That is the furthest from the truth....that Warrant officer must be from Mars!!!
We are being "gifted" our rifles as long as we have a current and up to date PAL.
The Rangers that did not bother to get a expired PAL renewed or simply neglected to get a PAL.....their rifles will be handed over as they are issued their new rifles......the Rangers that cared about their previous issued rifle and took the necessary steps to make sure all their legalities were in order......take home their old issued No4 and the new Tikka. The old issued enfield becomes their personal property. What happens to the rifles that were not gifted becomes anybodies guess.....melted down in Stelco's blast furnace, drill purpose rifles for cadets etc.,most of us will probably not know. What I do know is I won't believe that we will be able to keep a "Crown Asset" especially a rifle until I sign the paperwork and it's in my hands. Lets face the facts...the gov't does not usually gift rifles to it's current serving DND members especially the current serving Gov't. Shhhhhhh......Trudeau may not even know about it!!!
the reason there gifting the Enfields .. the Military lost track of who has rifles, and where they are. Also the cost to travel around the north trying to track them down and return them.

Cabalas had Chinese SKSs on sale in January $189.00

The most recent media release about the Ranger Enfields that I seen was that individual Rangers were to be given the option of keeping their Enfield for personal use , with the remaining Enfields being deactivated , and given to Cadet Corps around Canada for practice parade rifles . A few will go to museums ; but who knows for sure , I suspect Trudeau will just have the remaining Enfields sent to the smelter .

I'm no fan of Justin Trudeau either, but sometimes I get just a little tired of him being portrayed as the single source of everything some of you people don't like. There is a whole military bureaucracy involved here in the disposition of those rifles as well the legal system regarding possession of firearms.

I love the story about Colt rebarreling them to .308 though, it's the best science-fiction fantasy yarn I've heard since the last Dr. who episode I saw.

This was the last I ever heard of the Lee Enfield's as well- Glad that Rangers will be able to keep theirs and Cadets get to use some but just heart breaking if some go to the smelter/ scrap metal heap.

If that's the case maybe someone will step up like someone did in Italy a while back. I believe this is where Corwin Arms got the huge lot of Lee Enfields a couple years back. Interesting read if anyone doesn't know the story;

#### the rifles...
What are they going to do with the millions of rounds of mk8z ammo IVI has been pumping out from 1940 to about 3 years ago!?
There are hoards of it in 3rd line depots.

I wonder what ever happened to the shipping containers full of Stg44’s that were captured a couple years back in Syria by insurgents. Unfortunate end to them I am sure. Can’t seem to find the video of them at the moment.

Us Rangers here in the Yukon have been on a real diet regarding issued .303 service ammo for the last 2 yrs. I was informed there was very little left in the system.

A realistic point of view on surplus is, many place's that bought say ,
M1 Garand Rifles , don't issue them anymore because of lack of ammo.
Many of these place's have enough parts to rebuild them, but they
Don't have the capacity to make ammo or find a place to buy it.
This hold's true for many other rifle's in storage around the world.
Some are stored with great care, other's are just stacked up and left
to the elements.

Curious as to example-countries...

Ummm, yahhh, right,,,,,,,,, I guess the recent snc lavalin affair just shot this statement all to hell.

Seems that all of Canada is learning that the Buck Stops at the PM's Office!

Oddly enough, most people already knew that and some of us are still learning the hard way!

Curious as to example-countries...

Viet Nam, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and even some Eastern European nations. Their laws don't allow them to be sold and in their opinion the firearms are valueless and useless. Some seem to avoid the elements but many are intentionally left out to make them unserviceable. Then, along comes the US government. They purchase all of those firearms under the guise of taking them out of the system.

Pay for the firearms, pay to have them destroyed (maybe) so they don't get onto the surplus markets for civilians or picked up in quantity and sent to hot spots around the world, where their value rises to 100x what they were paid for. They were supposedly destroyed butttttttttt. As for ammo????? Tighter controls are the issue for end user purchases. Still, any ammo needed can and will be made as long as there is enough money available.

Look at the thousands of Stg44 rifles that were found in storage in Syria. There was also a mountain of ammunition for them. Maybe not very dependable ammo but most of it still goes bang. The US jumped on those pretty fast. I wonder what happened to them????

Trudeau is the head of the snake, so he is mentioned, he ( liberals) control the military/police/ legal system/ beurocracy, that are putting in place the regulations and laws that prevent these and many more firearms from being sold and owned by Canadian enthusiasts. There is no one else to blame but the leader of the liberal party and his minions, they are the top of the pyramid!

Another dimension is that countries can get brownie points from the UN by cutting up obsolete weaponry that they weren't going to use anyway.
There ya go and trudeau is sucking up for a position on the UN council, well, was, we will see if he goes to the UN or to jail. The world is watching this $#!t show now so let's hope his aspirations of getting on the council in some way, have disappeared. Good payback for giving all our tax dollars away to other countries while leaving Canadians wanting.
