Milsurp values?

Sure you can find an unmolested 98 for that much, hell, I know somebody who picked up a bring back for 300 of off an estate sale but that only happens so often.

Anyone have an idea what the going rate for an AG42b in nice condition with toolkit would be?

I already have a trade lined up for mine, but I'm just curious about the current value.

I have looked for an all matching original unmolested K98. Nothing at $300 or even $900.
Where do you guys find all these deals?

TradeEx has one listed for $1295 with cracked stock and handguard, mismatch bayo, no tool kit

I would say they are bending the truth for the sake of a good story. :).

But... You can find some good rifles on auctions (estate sales use them a lot), when people don't know what they are selling. You just have to dedicate your free time driving around and checking items in person.

Oh, and don't forget you will have to pay winning bid+auctioneer fee 18% +shipping + tax + credit card fee 3%. So you can win something for 1300 and end up paying 1700.

I've been watching online auctions for a while, just can't commit without seeing item in person. Too much of a lottery for me.

Get to any gunshow early! Couple months back bought an 1860 US Cavalry sword/scabbard with rare maker and yank troopers name on it 200 bucks. Look up that one on ebay and your into 4 figures. It hangs in my den. Also saw a pair of P14 & P 17 full military at 800 pair. Bought some rifle parts off a guy who threw in an 1891 long forestock and 2 long handguards at no extra that I needed for project. Heck few yrs back a guy unloaded a dozen 7.62 #4 barrels at 10 buck each. Etc Etc.
Get to any gunshow early!

That seems rather high. I was estimating about $850 for mine. I think that's more realistic.

Ya, actually hard to say on that one. Seems like they were 700 ish in the past year but going up fast. I have no idea what the bayo is worth. Whatever the case, they were a steal at 500$ a couple years ago. They are outstanding guns.

You're in ballpark as depending on condition the 42b seems to be $650 to $800 range. The complete tool kit is another $60-$80, though I just saw a new one with parts still wrapped go for about $110 at auction.

They are worth whatever you are willing to pay. Most are priced high on the EE and lots don't seem to be selling, at least not right away but if you are patient a cheaper one will always pop up..and thanks to Murphy usually right after you pay or get your new toy in the mail! haha. Trick is just need to check the EE multiple times a day as the real deals or rare ones go fast! And the main issue with pricing is dealers will list something high and someone will see and post theirs alil less or there aren't any posted on the EE to compare so someone over prices it or someone thinks they have something special and post it high then others see the high price and see dollar signs and then follow and post around the same, usually undercutting the other by a few bucks. I'd say surplus rifles have really shot shot up In the last 3 years, kinda feels like they go in spurts rather then gradually increasing (at least feels like that to me when they were cheaper) Hell you can still see wolverines ad from again 5-6 years ago showing a new shipment of svt 40's for $275 with all the accessories which just makes the strongest of us depressed for not buying 1 or a few back then! now you won't find one under $700 but most are in the $800's and up. And the bad thing about most dealers now is they will list high cause they know someone will impulse buy it (mainly someone with to much money or someone brand new to the sport that thinks its cool or just doesn't know or people who are not on the forums to compare) which is also why most dealers tend to not advertise a surplus rifle on here when they get it.

I got out of the surplus game when everything was relatively cheap to get into the AR/black rifle game cause they were expensive at the time. Now im getting back into milsurps and again thanks to Murphy AR's are cheap and milsurp are now expensive..funny how that worked out!

That's a nice collection. You got a good price on most of the items.

Your M17 is lonely though. It needs to be together with its cousin the P14.

Yeah not bad at all considering it came with a spare stock and handguard, mag, 2 piece firing pin and spring, cleaning kit in tube, stripper clips, new launcher and new bayonet (egyptian though) :)

To be honest im not sure "how well" I did but in my mind it was to good to pass up so I just had to jump on it!

That was a fantastic buy...

My guesses, based on EE prices (as others have said, gun shows can be all over the map):

Swiss K31 $800-1000$

SMLE # 1 Mk III $700-900

LE # 4 Mk I $800-1200 (particularly for a Canadian made Longbranch)

RC K98 $700-1000

Genuine German K98 900-1500$

M96 Swede Mauser $450-500 (I have one I was planning to list on the EE soon - message me if you want details)

M38 Swede Mauser $550-$650

US Model of 1917 $800-1100
