First .22LR pistol - Norc, Ruger, other?

It was a tossup between the Buckmark and Ruger for me too, and I went with the 22/45 Target model. It shoots exceptionally well, and has been very reliable...only two things I don't like about it is the skinny grip (with no option of panel choices) and complicated take down process.

If I had to do it again, I might have gone for the MKIII with the metal frame instead of the 22/45.

I stuck a Hogue grip sleeve on my MkII 22/45 and it fills my hand alot better now.

Interesting, Hitzy...I had seen that before. I'm wondering if the slip on grip is tight fitting so it doesn't slip around, and if it's very difficult to remove in order to take down the gun? Thanks.

I have the Hogue grips on my KP89DC and stainless Security Six .357 MAG, and each one has been a good upgrade so far...just not sure about the 22/45.

It doesn't move around, it's a snug fit, and it's only $10 or so. It's not difficult to put on or take off, just takes a little time as you have to alternate from front to back while sliding it.
I don't take it down to clean very often. Basically everything important can be wiped down with q-tips through the ejection port and re-lubed. A bore snake makes quick work of cleaning the bore. I'll tear it down every 1000 rounds or so for a full cleaning.
