Getting firearms parts shipped to Canada

**Disclaimer** I am new to owning firearms and made a NEWB mistake: I dry fired a 76 year old Tokarev. The tip of the firing pin shot out the barrel and hit the kitchen cupboard and was never seen again...

So, I did some searching around and only found two places selling replacement pins for Tokarevs. One in the US that doesn't ship to Canada and a guy on eBay in Moscow who would. I ordered the Moscow pin set and it shipped on Wednesday (2 days ago.) Question I have is: am I going to get a call from the CBSA? Or are they even going to care? What's the protocol when importing parts to Canada?

I’ve had parts from England and the US. The American parts seem to be pre-cleared by some companies on what they can ship to us , usually written in the ad or the phone contact says no. My parts from England went through Eb*y and the ad said yes to Canada, customs didn’t touch either

I have had lots come from the Czech Republic, no issues ever

So according to what I read, there's nothing illegal about importing a firing pin (that's good lol) and there's no paperwork required... Here's hoping I don't get that 1 in 1000 CBSA officer that wants to be a prick.

I’ve ordered parts from various places and had no issues with the cbsa except one time when I was sent the wrong parts by accident and they were confiscated

I have been wondering if I am able to order a Glock 17 barrel and slide from Brownells. I understand if I was going to bring them over myself, I would have to fill out some itar paperwork.

What would happen if I were to order them from the Brownells website to ship them here?

All the information you need is found on Brownells' own website. Scroll to the bottom of the page, find 'Ordering' and under that 'International Sales':

Thanks for this information.
So it appears, according to Brownells, "Canadian customers are required to provide an import certificate which states that you can import firearm components.".
Brownells then links to the RCMP site that states such parts should be allowed, i.e. Glock 17 slide/barrel.
So the remaining question is, what is "an import certificate" technically speaking.

I asked the question here because I'm specifically looking for people who have actually ordered parts from Brownells to share their experiences if possible.

Call brownells international line and ask to speak with Sandy, she will explain the procedure and give you the correct Canadian gov agency and phone number.
It’s not that difficult and takes a couple of weeks to get it done.

The Canadian term, 'technically speaking', is International Import Certificate (IIC). You'll need to apply to Global Affairs Canada's Export and Import Controls for it.

This is easy enough to do, but it isn't for anyone who is unwilling to read and write.

Did you read any of post #3? It's all contained there:

When considering the issues discussed in a thread, it really helps if you actually read the posts in the given thread before asking repetitive follow-up questions.

Hello Wendell,
I went through this process a few years ago,so it’s bit foggy:)
But yes , it’s pretty simple and the one guy who works at that particular office ,is very helpful.
It can all be done through email as well.

Tokarev pistol or rifle ? I have a couple extra TT33 firing pins brand new.

Pistol. The part is en-route so unfortunately I don't need one now... If it turns out this guy is one of those notorious eBay scammers I will hit you up though lol. thank you.

Western Gun Parts should have the part, if not Numrich Gun Parts certainly will.

Your kidding right? I've been calling Western for years looking for basic parts for my guns and they have never had them or ever showed any interest in bringing them in. I still can't figure out how they are still in business, same with friends/co-workers. I guess if other people have luck great but no one I know has. Worst yet they are in the same city as me.

I guess they like me, always seem to have the parts I need and are great to talk to,really patient with us idiots

Got the pin and it's in the pistol, have to find time to head to a range to shoot it though but I tested it by "painting" a snap caps primer black with a dry erase marker and putting it on top of another snap caps and the ink transfered over.
